In these cases, feelings of anxiety, sadness or adjustments can become overwhelming and require some outside assistance to help us think things through and sort out our choices. The truth is we are living in intense times that contribute towards discord and dysfunction. As such, you may find yourself on a journey not of your own choosing; and, often during these times, you could stumble upon a place called uncertainty. Basically, this is a place of being stuck at a crossroad, not knowing which direction to take that will produce the results you desire. Or, perhaps you have made some decisions that have resulted in negative consequences and the solutions seem improbable. In essence, no matter the contributing factors to where you are today, CHANGE is still possible, and HEALING is still obtainable!

Have you ever felt like your entire world was falling apart? Like you were drowning in your own negative thoughts, grief, and pain with nowhere to turn or not even a clue on what to do next? It may seem that you are stuck and there is no remedy or cure for you to function from a place of peace, happiness, and self-fulfillment. Mental Health is a Journey! I aim to assist individuals in navigating the challenges, transitions, and triumphs of life.

It is my belief that everyone deserves to be heard, cared for, and ultimately understood. It is a shame that so many of us do not have this. You may feel that you are lost, worried, stressed, the caretaker for everyone in your circle, a ghost (unseen and unheard), or the glue that keeps everything from falling apart (how exhausting). In our busy lives, we may underestimate the importance of self-care and work-life balance. Change (although not comfortable or easy) may be just what you need to alter your life’s direction. So, what's stopping you from increasing your quality of life?

If you or someone you love identifies as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) or neuro-divergent then I am happy we found each other! As a previous nurse assistant, teacher (toddler-12th grade) and childcare director, I have spent over a decade immersed in hands-on research to better study effective evidence based approaches for treating children and their support systems. I use these approaches eclectically to help clients and their families with sensory regulation, behavioral issues, and counsel the client's entire support system to bring balance.

Right now, it can be difficult to find a therapist that is a good fit, let alone one that is available for sessions. After 10 years of agency experience, working with kids through play therapy and other evidence-based methods, I am opening up my schedule to private practice clients. I believe quality one on one care and family therapy can greatly improve children's emotional and mental struggles as well as support the family unit.

Adlerian Therapists
How does Adlerian psychology work?
In the framework of Adlerian therapy, people are motivated by a sense of belonging and community, which drives them to surmount feelings of inferiority so as to contribute to their society; fulfilling these desires can help people flourish. Adlerian therapy proceeds in four stages—engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation—in an overall effort to understand the client’s past and to achieve their present-day humanistic goals.
Is Adlerian therapy humanistic?
Yes, Adlerian psychology is humanistic; it focuses on the whole person, emphasizes their strengths rather than just their symptoms, and centers them in determining how they can grow and flourish. This school of thought informed the work of Abraham Maslow, who went on to develop humanistic psychology.
How long does Adlerian therapy take?
Adlerian therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented form of therapy that takes around 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Of course, some people may be in therapy for a shorter or longer time frame; length depends on the individual and the problem or condition they wish to treat. Clients can ask their therapist about the timeline for treatment before they begin and check in periodically to ensure that they’re on the same page in terms of progress.
Is Adlerian therapy evidence based?
There is not as much evidence to support the effectiveness of Adlerian therapy as there is for other types of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. But Adlerian therapy may be the right therapy for some people—whether they’re seeking to treat mental disorders or achieve self-growth—especially those looking for a holistic approach that emphasizes relationships, community, self-worth, and purpose.
