Some areas developed into passions, and I have specialized knowledge on eating disorders, body dysmorphia, self-esteem, trauma/PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
Now accepting clients ages 13+ with BCBS, Meridian Medicaid, Mclaren Medicaid, Cigna, and Priority Health! Mental Health is something that is discussed now more than ever. The true definition is complicated - as every person will have their own version of mental health. This is why it is so important to work with a therapist who can meet you where you are and personalize your care to suit your goals. I believe therapy techniques should be set to you and your needs. With knowledge on a variety of culturally/gender informed treatments, I want to put you before your diagnosis or struggles.

Sometimes we just need a little help figuring out life's challenges-----help sorting out how to make some of "those" big decisions...or how to pick up the pieces after a fallout, breakup or death of a loved one. Maybe drugs and alcohol have taken over you and the lifestyle you once knew; recovery may be a frightening thing to explore. Sometimes we are caught up in someone else's mess; a loved one with a substance abuse, alcohol or gambling problem. Finances may be causing conflict with others and within ourselves.Sometimes we need help because someone /something may be needing more

My vision began several years ago when I realized that most counseling agencies tend to concentrate on only one aspect of wellbeing, "Mental Health". Many people seeking whole body wellness are forced to travel to multiple providers to gain the full experience. Why not have one agency that meets the multiple aspect in achieving the "Whole Body Wellness" concept? I truly believe that maximizing personal wellbeing is dependent on the emotional, physical and spiritual health of every individual. I am proud to provide the surrounding community with a comprehensive clinic that addresses whole body wellness.

I work with a diversity of disorders ,especially eating disorders and trauma.
Your authority is in your authenticity, simply meaning the more honest, accepting, vulnerable and open you are with yourself first, is the more empowered you will be to address and heal any area of your life. We must radically accept our selves with compassion and honor. Self honor is the beginning of personal freedom. Radical self acceptance is the antecedent. I promote and empower positivity in your daily reality. Many of us struggle with societal and internal pressures and judgements. Because we judge ourselves in our minds, we find ourselves trapped often in them, limiting our potential and dishonoring our truths. I want to partner with you by helping you get out of your mind and past ways and get into your life, living in the present possibilities. My ideal client(s) are people who are willing to learn and grow within. I have no biases with religion, size, race, sexuality age and gender. It is my practice to be judgement free and accepting.

I primarily work with eating disorders, trauma, body image issues, OCD, and anxiety.
You know something’s not right. You’re constantly going back and forth in your head about what to eat, what not to eat, how much to eat, when to eat, what’s safe to eat, what’s 'bad' for you, what’s a 'better' choice… it feels like the ruminating never ends. That voice has been molded by years of diet culture exposure and unwanted comments from others about food and your body. The shame and guilt are relentless. Perhaps your ED has helped you cope with trauma, uncertainty, or things that once felt out of control. Together we'll gently untangle your patterns and help you build a kinder relationship with yourself.

Our team is trauma informed (all participate in regular continuing education, case consultation) with a wide variety of specialties ranging from (but not limited to) grief/loss, eating disorders, substance abuse, children/adolescents, and anxiety/depression.
Since 2000, Treeside has been serving the community in a charming downtown 1899 Victorian property that puts clients at ease. We want clients to be able to find a clinician that they can stay with, rather than starting over with new clinicians when a practice has high turnover. If you are seeking a clinician with robust clinical training at a practice with low turnover, we have a diverse team that works with a wide variety of concerns. Further, if finding a Christian clinician that integrates faith is important to you, our entire team identifies as Christians from a variety of denominations.

Eating Disorders Therapists
What happens in therapy for eating disorders?
In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?
Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?
The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?
Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?
Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
