These days, it's understandable to have difficulties with isolation, and having "nothing to do." But are those "difficulties" interfering with your ability to function? Is it preventing you from working as efficiently as you normally do? Have you had difficulty getting or staying motivated? Are you having an issue concentrating or focusing on a task? Parents, are you struggling to keep up with your child's educational performance while managing your own job? Are you having trouble in other areas of life (e.g., alcohol, cannabis)? Are you angry / irritable? If you answered yes to any of the above, then maybe I can help.

You’re the expert of your life. Let’s work together to make it the best it can be! I enjoy working with those looking to navigate through life’s unique and complex challenges. We are often unaware of how our early life experiences play a role in shaping how we perceive our world. We can work together to create breakthroughs using evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions. A soft approach in a non-judgmental space to develop new habits and form new ideas allows the development of a strong foundation of self.

Do you feel your past shaped the way you see yourself and other people? Do you ever wonder if those experiences contributed to the way you're living your life today? Has it impacted your relationships? Do you feel stuck? Do you feel on edge? When we have distressing life experiences or trauma, it is common to feel irritable, sad, and disconnected. It is also normal to be hyperalert and have trouble sleeping. These stressful experiences blocks the body's natural way of healing itself. EMDR therapy among other therapies can help you to unlock the healing process and feel like yourself again.

I believe life is both wonderful and challenging. During challenging times people often feel stuck - it's an awful place to be and finding someone to help you out of stuck can be of great comfort and assistance. I provide compassionate, supportive therapy in a professional and comfortable environment. I explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors that cause people to become stuck and work on practicing new thoughts, feelings and behaviors to become "unstuck". Therapy is a collaborative and dynamic process and I enjoy working with a wide variety of individuals to assist them in getting the most out of their life.

Mandarin and English. If you are looking for holistic and natural ways of healing, I will be the right person to approach for help. My clients experienced faster and sustained recovery from AD(H)D, PTSD, Addiction, Depression/Anxiety, Chronic Pain Disorder, Brain injuries, to name a few. Besides talk therapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic and treatment methods are used to address the "body" aspect of the mental health problems, while QEEG and EEG technologies ( FDA-approved Brainmaster) provide useful brain montages (the "mind" aspect) in order for me to render more effective & targeted assessment and treatment.

We all go through difficult times and need some objective support. I work with adults who experience anxiety, trauma, grief or other adjustments to life transitions. Clients who come to me are often seeking someone to accept them and meet them where they are; someone who will help them learn how to use their strengths to make changes in order to find peace of mind and live the life they want. The work may be hard, and uncomfortable at times, but we approach it as a team to reach their goals. I am currently able to take 2 new EMDR clients.

I work with people who want change from a variety of concerns. No matter what it is I believe we can all change and find a life we deserve and are happy with. I believe a therapist’s role is to help people find a life they never thought was possible, not just a life they once had.

How can I find a therapist in Troy?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
