Aside from my educational experience, I have +15 years of professional experience with children, adolescence, and adults in areas of depression, anxiety , grief and loss, suicide awareness and prevention, disabilities and daily living skills, art/play therapy, and ASD.
As a mental health professional, I believe in creating a safe and genuine environment for a client to be free to acknowledge their most vulnerable self, without judgment. The client-counselor relationship is unique and collaborative, therefore the significance of a trusting bond cannot be overemphasized. I believe that the therapeutic relationship grows organically, with time, and at the client’s pace. Each client is unique, so I integrate approaches best suited to the individual and the situation–Psychodynamic, CBT, Humanistic, and Mindfulness–but at the core of therapy is self-exploration.

I have dealt with anxiety , depression, trauma, body image issues, and so many other things in my personal life.
If you've been struggling with life and circumstances, you are not alone. I applaud you for seeking out help with your challenges because it means that you are brave (stepping outside of your comfort zone) and that you have made the decision to do something about your mental health (also brave). If you need a good listener, somebody who is in your life to support you, somebody who is not afraid to encourage you to take control of your circumstances and mindset, and someone who can provide insight and education about mental health, I would love to meet with you!

I understand making the decision to reach out for help can be overwhelming and sometimes even anxiety provoking.
Mental Health Challenges and Trauma can change every aspect of our life and we may wonder will there EVER be a "normal" life for ME again? The answer is YES! Although things will be different, with commitment and the willingness to move THROUGH the challenges, there is LIFE & HEALING. Mental Health and Trauma are both taboo words in our society and are often stigmatized by our families, our friends, and most unfortunately even by ourselves. Although an estimated 26% of Americans ages 18 and up -- 1 in 4 adults--live with a diagnosable mental health issue in a given year. YES, you read that correctly; 1 in 4 adults!

Vulnerability and shame is often at the core of most mental health issues. Without treatment, these core issues can frequently manifest into anxiety , depression, and addictive or self destructive behaviors. When our sense of self is fragile and the story we've created about who we are is distorted, it can become extremely difficult to feel fulfilled, connected, or joyful. My goal as a therapist is to help you feel safe and comfortable so you can explore and evolve into living and being the best version of YourSelf.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
