I am currently only accepting new patients for testing, not therapy. An important aspect of my practice is creating a space that allows us to explore the obstacles people face and develop tools to remove them. My primary focus is neuropsychological assessment for individuals struggling with a spectrum of concerns, including
ADHD
, Autism, and dementia. I am certified by the ACBIS and Brain Injury Association of America as a Brain Injury Specialist and work closely with other providers to ensure that all aspects of a person's health are addressed. I have also been certified by IBCCES as an Autism Specialist.

Hello! I specialize in adult
ADHD
assessments. I do NOT work with insurances. The
ADHD
testing takes place at my office in Troy and lasts approximately 2 hours. This is followed by scoring, interpretation and report writing, including treatment recommendations. The reports are completed in approximately 2-3 weeks. At that time, I will send you the completed report via email and if interested, set up a time to meet with you over Zoom to review your results. If a diagnosis of
ADHD
is indicated, I will provide you with a referral to a psychiatric care provider or collaborate with your current psychiatric provider or PCP.

I work with diverse populations of clients in the metro-Detroit area, ages 13-60+ with a multitude of concerns including but not limited to: those struggling with stress, symptoms of anxiety, and depression, adult
ADHD
/neurodivergence, trauma, parents of children with behavioral challenges, couples, and those looking for general mental wellness improvement.
My ideal client is anyone who is willing to take a chance on themself and be curious. My ideal client is willing to explore their past, present, or future, identify their needs, learn coping skills, understand the parameters of their weaknesses and build on their strengths, celebrate their progress, and bring peace (or acceptance) to their chaos. My ideal client is open to letting me in on who they are and their journey so that we can work together toward growth, progress, and sustainability.

I also focus on providing support and coping skills for
ADHD
.
There is a lot of anxiety and uncertainty during these times. Voicing your stress and receiving support and validation in return can relieve some of that weight off your shoulders. Finding healthy ways to cope and allowing the time to focus on your needs are what we can do together to bring more stability into your life. As a counselor and art therapist, you will find yourself in an environment that centers on your self-growth and empowerment through talk therapy and creative expression. Neurodivergence, the recognition of more brain functioning than the neurotypical standard, is also a core practice you'll find with me.

Individuals are unique and view the world in relation to their personal experience. Hence, treatment must be tailored to individual goals and needs. We are the authors of our lives. Along our journey, we
add
chapters to our life's narrative. All individuals face struggle and uncertainty in life that affects their health. Although we are unable to erase the past we can recreate our story by evaluating experiences and changing our perceptions. Consequently, we can author additional chapters to our life's narrative.

ADHD

In our world today, we are exposed to many different life experiences; therefore, it comes with many ups and downs. Our day to day life can be joyful and stressful, and that can leave us feeling overwhelmed at some point; and we will need someone to talk to outside of our circle of family or friends.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
