I offer therapy sessions in-person or online via telehealth.
My clients have usually been working very hard to feel okay after big setbacks in their lives. Some of them have been ignoring their pain for years. They often arrive feeling stressed, discouraged, out of control and out of ideas. They want to stop pretending and feel like they've faced their past and are ready for their future. I believe in using a range of proven therapy strategies adapted to your specific needs, with great communication between us on what is helping and what is not. Together we'll approach whatever is in the way with kindness, curiosity and the courage to help you step into a more satisfying life.

I offer Telehealth sessions for those needing/preferring video sessions.
My practice is currently full. Please email me if you are interested in being on my waitlist. I love working with people who are seeking growth and self-understanding. Therapy is hard work. It pushes us to see things in new ways and to explore feelings and behavior patterns. And, hopefully, it leads to feeling healthier and more connected to ourselves, our needs, and in our relationships. I approach therapy from a holistic and integrative perspective--I believe well-being is influenced and impacted by many factors including physical health, genetics, personality, and life experiences.

I love the work that I do in helping people learn how to find a fresh perspective on where they are, where they want to go, and how to get there. My gift is in my ability to easily connect with people and I create an environment where we work together to get results. In addition to face-to-face counseling, I am also a certified Life Coach and Tele-Counselor which means that we can work by phone/web, if needed. I have been practicing for over 20 years working with adults, couples, families and adolescents. I opened up Grace Counseling Professionals in an effort to bring counselors together to make a difference in our community.

Catalyst Consulting & Counseling is currently offering video sessions for current and new clients via doxy
A catalyst may be a person or a thing that precipitates a change. When you see the change, you can be the change! As a licensed clinical social worker I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, groups and families in the areas of trauma and resilience, anxiety, depression, as well as grief and loss. As a member of the gay community, a presenter and writer in this field, I have worked with folks that are moving toward being fully integrated in their lives. Matching what we know about our inner selves with our outer selves and celebrating ourselves within our communities, may require some assistance along the way.

Hello and welcome! I love being able to walk beside those who are struggling and helping them to find their sunshine again. Life is hard and it can really just suck sometimes. I take pride in being a real, down to earth, meet you where you’re at person; life is too sterile as it is, therapy doesn't need to be. I don't do the floof of therapy of yesteryear. Together we can work to figure out what's going on and where you're heading next!

Hi and Welcome! I'm so glad you are here. If you are looking to make a change to your life I can help with that. Whether young, old or in between, we all have the power within us to change our story and welcome healing and wellness into our lives. As Rumi once said, "The dark thought, the shame, the mailce. Meet them at the door laughing and invite them in. Be grateful for whatever comes. Because each has been sent as a guide." I can help assist in this journey, to be a guide for you or your family member in learning the tools to help assist in creating a more peaceful and meaningful life.

Has it been a while since you’ve felt like yourself? Does it seem like everyone else is moving forward while you’re stuck in place? Or maybe your life looks ideal from the outside, but inside you something feels off. You’ve been doing your best to act normal but it’s getting harder every day. You keep hoping that you’ll “snap out of it” but so far nothing has worked, and you’re starting to worry that you may never feel happy again. These experiences are more common than you may think, but that doesn't make them any less scary or difficult.

I offer sessions in person in my office or online through my telehealth system.
Many clients who work with me feel that their romantic, family, or career relationships have left them drained, overfunctioning, and out of touch with who they really are. This imbalance often leads to symptoms and behaviors that cause additional layers of distress, and to undervaluing their own emotional lives. I also see many clients with high sensitivity, deep empathy, and an extended capacity for care that can leave them feeling different or disconnected. Their goals for therapy are to feel more authentic in their relationships, more at ease in their bodies, and more at peace in the world around them.

My focus with clients is centered on helping them develop skills that promote emotional regulation. This skill-building is achieved through a structured approach that incorporates the development of self-awareness, the application of cognitive-behavioral skills, and mindfulness meditation. Relying on evidence-based frameworks, I aim to provide my clients with a foundation of knowledge to help them understand the mechanisms behind their responses and how, with time and intention, they can be changed. My specialized training focuses on supporting those who suffer from anxiety, dissociation, and PTSD.

Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
