Everyone deserves a sense of control over their lives. When terrible things happen it can feel like the wind has been knocked out of you. The world feels unsafe. Feelings of deep sadness, fear, shame and a rawness seem to linger. Many people feel as though they are damaged goods and wonder if they will ever be themselves again, or if they will ever be happy again. Imagine what it will be like when you have more good days then bad, when you feel the laughter, when you hear your child start to sing again. In a relaxed, safe environment you will receive support, encouragement, and the skills you need to thrive not just survive.

I work best with individuals who are motivated for change, even if they're not exactly sure where to start. Many of my clients come in feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or impacted by past experiences, but have a desire to grow and develop healthier ways of thinking, coping and relating to others. They are open to learning new tools, reflecting on patterns, and putting in the work between sessions to create lasting change. Therapy with me is more than just talking- it's about helping you feel more in control, confident, and more like yourself again.

I believe everyone deserves to live their best life, and that we can all use some help getting there from time to time. That’s where therapy comes in. I view the therapist and client as a team. I have skills and training, but you know yourself and your life better than anyone. I strive to provide an empathetic, non-judgmental, strengths-based environment where together we can work toward your goals.

Compassion is the foundation for the therapy I provide. Creating an open and positive environment allows individuals a space to be themselves without fear of judgment. In session, I help guide clients to visualize the life they want to build for themselves and outline a plan to meet those goals. My aim is to empower people in the present and for continued growth throughout their lives. Whether you are feeling anxious, depressed, or stressed, interested in stronger relationships, struggling with past trauma, or are simply looking for someone to listen and care, I want to help.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
