I have been providing outpatient treatment to children, adults, and families in the Tri-Cities and Thumb area of Michigan for nearly 15 years. I have experience in treating both mental health and substance abuse issues as well as co-occurring disorders. I have experience in treating depressive and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders including generalized anxiety, specific phobias, and PTSD, and relationship issues. I also have extensive training in treating perinatal mood disorders, including post-partum depression. and working with domestic abuse survivors.

I am a fully licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist. I have been helping children, families , teens, and adults with a variety of mental health needs in the Tri-City Area and beyond since 2015. Gloria Waugh is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her undergraduate degree in Family Life Education from Spring Arbor University and her Master of Arts in Counseling from Spring Arbor University. She began her career working as an outpatient clinician treating children, teens, adults and families with diverse diagnosis including severe and persistent mental illnesses, mood disorders, bi-polar, schizophrenia, depression, anger, anxiety, ADHD, post-traumatic stress disorders, chronic pain, PMDD, personality disorders and co-occurring disorders.

Hello All. I am a former English teacher/tutor turned licensed therapist. I love listening to stories and helping people figure out their strengths, abilities and goals. I specialized in trauma while I was in school and have worked with both children and adults. I have worked with the amazing Northern Michigan Children’s Assessment Center in Roscommon as well as with Adult Services and the wonderful people at DHHS. My background is well rounded, and while I tend to lean toward the Marvel Universe v. DC, I can talk a mean game of basketball and enjoy Sunday football with the family . I look forward to hearing your stories and needs.

Prior to working at Gratiot Psychological Services, I worked for several years at St. Vincent Catholic Charities Children's Home in Lansing, MI as a residential therapist providing individual, group, and family therapy. I have been trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model to help further address incidents of trauma in children and adolescents. Outside the office I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also like to spend time reading, watching movies, painting or drawing, and being outside.

My ideal client would be a person hoping to heal their trauma that they have encountered in life and would like to use EMDR, (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) in order to do so.

Currently have limited daytime appointments only - I am a fully licensed mental health counselor with the State of Michigan (LPC) and a nationally certified counselor (NCC). My experience and training are in the areas of crisis and trauma, grief and adjustment issues, relationship concerns, anxiety/depression, behavioral issues, substance use disorders and work / school struggles. I have training in spiritual guidance, trauma therapy, behavior modification, motivational interviewing, internal family systems, integrative therapy, couples counseling and dialectical behavioral therapy.

I received my Bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan-Flint in Social Work. I received my Master of Social Work, which is a CSWE accredited program at Walden University. I have experience working with different cultures and crisis through my training both at University of Michigan and at Walden University and working professionally as a counselor and therapist with substance abuse and mental health populations.

To me, spirit is about what is inside you regardless of your circumstances. My goal for providing therapy is teaching people how to function within how their lives actually are; good or bad, struggle or peace, history of trauma or not. Faith is a crucial part of it. In Acts 27 Paul is on a boat being tossed by a terrible storm. He tells the crew we should not have sailed BUT NOW we can manage the storm. In the Buddhist Eight Fold path Right Judgment is make choices based on how things truly are and not driven by emotion. The storm teaches us things and makes us stronger.
