Hello, from Emily and Wrigley (she’s the doggy in the picture), I'm a licensed family therapist with over 16 years of experience and Wrigley is my loyal sidekick creating a relaxing environment. I am passionate to help children and families overcome stressors and difficulties they are experiencing, such as: meltdowns/tantrums, sensory issues, ASD, anxiety, depression, fears/worries, and issues related to divorce. I’m a strong believer in hope and resilience of the human soul and healing can occur for families if they are believed in, build positive connections, and provided with professional guidance.

Things change in life and sometimes these transitions require support, care and insight that well-meaning friends and family cannot provide. Gaining an outside perspective, supportive validation and assistance with defining the issues that are most pertinent to you and your progression toward better life outcomes are crucial. Spending the time to address these issues is an important investment in yourself which can impact your relationships, your physical health and your future. Take the time to make that investment, you are worth it.

Life at times can seem like a battle field, and our minds our most hostile enemy. Many of us are in conflict with both internal and external factors that exist in our lives. Sometimes we don't feel equipped to withstand these forces or conditions that exist in our daily life. Depression, trauma, abuse, addictions, failed relationships, and shaming thought patterns that can hold us back in family relationships, academic achievement, social interactions, and career development. I believe the battles we win within our minds, can extend throughout all areas of our life. It's not only becoming mindful, but taking steps towards change.

I value every encounter with an individual. I am grateful to be in a field, as a Therapist, where I can enjoy divine connections daily - thanks to the incredible courage of people. Specifically, thanks to a “yes” to the journey of growth, healing, and one's readiness to get "unstuck." Although I believe that the therapy office is a place where much of an individual’s healing and recovery from life challenges takes place, I also understand that the real tests happen outside of those four walls. I want to help you to prepare for those tests, cope, build healthy relationships, and affirm yourself in the positive.

Trauma can be understood as any extraordinarily stressful experience in life that has a lasting negative impact on someone. People who have suffered from PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Traumatic Events, Relationship Devastation, Emotional Neglect, Job Loss, and/or loss of a loved one often lost faith in counseling because regular talk therapy may have helped somewhat, but they didn’t actually “feel” (physically) better. Yet many symptoms and difficulties still plagued a person, even if they were “thinking right” about a past incident and trying to “move on.” It's time for a new approach. Trauma-Informed Interventions go beyond talk.

I have worked more than 35 years with people struggling with some type of mental health symptoms and/or substance related disorders. My own therapy experiences have led me to know there are no limits to the hope available to us all; to overcome adversity, to build resiliency, and to move towards health. I believe that we all long for health and connection. I've experienced and witnessed the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity, to expand self-awareness, self acceptance, and to initiate and achieve astounding and lasting change in their lives.

Hello! Life has a way of coming at us in the most unpredictable, unimaginable ways. As such, it makes the most "put-together-person" crumble. If you are feeling overwhelmed, scared, angry, confused, alone, helpless, worthless, stressed, lost, sad.... you've come to the right place. It happens to most of us and that's what makes us human. We make mistakes, we fall down, we get hurt, life is messy, and it gets to be too much and is seemingly unmanageable for us. With some help, we will go through the process of rebuilding, stand back up and then become stronger than we were before.

I have 25 years experience working with people who struggle with depression, anxiety, chronic pain, PTSD, and other issues. I am trained in a variety of treatment techniques, but I especially like utilizing EMDR, CBT, and supportive therapy for improved healing. EMDR is a proven technique to resolve trauma in an extremely short period of time. Many clients and professionals have told me that I have a warm, inviting personality that helps put people at ease. I am also told that my services often help reduce symptoms as well as heal root causes of their symptomology.
