NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. For the past 18 years, I've had the privilege of helping people of all ages through life challenges and heal from difficult experiences. Clients experience long-term change, due to interventions that are healing, supportive, and empowering. Trust and safety are established in an environment where people can feel understood, respected, and never judged, which is the most important thing to me to provide, as a therapist. Asking for help can be difficult and takes courage. I admire anyone willing to explore therapy as an opportunity for growth and healing.

The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination. As a clinician, it is my goal to help guide you in the right direction of your personal good life. While providing a secure, trustworthy environment for you, together we will work towards the process of building the best version of yourself. While I primarily use CBT in combination with Psychoanalytic Theory, my approach is more importantly based on a foundation of empathy, compassion, and respect. I will work collaboratively with you to identify your unique needs and goals, and tailor my interventions to best suit your individual needs.

I love working with teens struggling with
self esteem
, I love working with parents, and I have a personal passion in working with women struggling with postpartum depression.
Coming to therapy is like drinking coffee with an old friend, except the difference is that this friend listens very closely, does not react negatively to what you say, and only provides productive feed back. Who wouldn't benefit from that? As a therapist I provide a comfortable and safe place for you to talk through some of those difficult moments in your life. Sometimes life is just hard and you just need a little extra help.

For many of us, problems with concentration, low energy or motivation, and conflict with those close to us make each day a challenge, resulting in unhealthy coping methods. Anxiety and depression are oftentimes the cause for these difficulties. I help clients using a cognitive behavioral approach to treat those issues and others such as guilt, self-esteem, trauma, anger, addiction, GLBT issues, and family/behavior problems. I rely on a solution-focused, collaborative approach. My practice is geared toward children ages 8 & up, adolescents, and adults. Call for an appointment today so we may begin helping you achieve your goals.

My counseling approach is Person-Centered, focusing on building a therapeutic relationship by being warm, genuine, and understanding. I also adhere to many aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive distortions and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and seeking development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems. I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which is a comprehensive, evidence-based treatment for borderline personality disorder and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy as a treatment for Post Traumatic Stress.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
