I have a high success rate in reducing symptoms of anxiety and resolving
marital
conflict.
The client/therapist relationship is one of the strongest indicators of client success and the therapy hour is that rare occasion where one can feel safe sharing their thoughts, feelings, fears, disappointments, and dreams without judgment. My strengths as a therapist begin with my ability to make clients feel comfortable while being fully engaged and invested in their progress. My clients regularly comment on my ability to remember even the simplest of details from previous sessions even upon returning to therapy years later. I'm also continually adding to my knowledge base which allows me to add new dimensions to the therapy hour.

Hope, healing, wholeness. This is what we all want. But instead we sometimes feel despair, broken, and alone. We long to feel loved and understood. But often that doesn't happen. Something has gone wrong. Life is not what we had hoped. We are not who we want to be. Are you troubled by guilt, destructive behavior, discouragement or depression? Or perhaps it's
marital
problems, being a single adult, or adolescent issues. Maybe you struggle with a constant feeling of failure, the pain of sexual abuse, or the memory of bullying. There is help-and hope.

For couples in distress and affair recovery I help using the Gottman Method, the most research-based approach to improving your
marriage
.
Gottman Method Couples Therapy: Do fights with your spouse happen so often that you can't even tell when one ended and the next began? And somehow the things that you used to admire about each other are now the jabs that you throw out during the latest fight? You're probably exhausted of feeling resentful and unappreciated, and also discouraged that your
marriage
could be better because every time you work up the courage to honestly try and listen to each other it seems to blow up into an argument anyway.

A call for therapy is placed because some area of life is just not working. As a psychologist, my focus is on assisting each individual, couple or family in working towards and reaching the goals that brought them in. Together, we identify the nature of the challenges being faced and work together to get life back on track. I practice as a family psychologist, working with whomever comes into my office. Each one of us is part of a bigger circle and thus the work also focuses on those with whom the person works or lives, as relevant.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
