The issues I specialize in are as follows: anxiety, depression, trauma,
relationship
issues, and self-esteem issues.
The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination. As a clinician, it is my goal to help guide you in the right direction of your personal good life. While providing a secure, trustworthy environment for you, together we will work towards the process of building the best version of yourself. While I primarily use CBT in combination with Psychoanalytic Theory, my approach is more importantly based on a foundation of empathy, compassion, and respect. I will work collaboratively with you to identify your unique needs and goals, and tailor my interventions to best suit your individual needs.

NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. For the past 18 years, I've had the privilege of helping people of all ages through life challenges and heal from difficult experiences. Clients experience long-term change, due to interventions that are healing, supportive, and empowering. Trust and safety are established in an environment where people can feel understood, respected, and never judged, which is the most important thing to me to provide, as a therapist. Asking for help can be difficult and takes courage. I admire anyone willing to explore therapy as an opportunity for growth and healing.

Clients seek counseling wanting to be understood and know what to do about their problems. Fighting in circles without resolution, struggling to communicate or feel understood, and arguing or shutting down are all symptoms of
relationship
struggles. Low desire, affairs, and trust violations are symptoms of deeper
relationship
problems. I like helping people get down to business so they can understand and correct problems at the core. Clients love my genuine, straightforward approach and learn a lot in sessions. They leave feeling safe, with increased hope, and tasks to work on to improve their lives and achieve their goals.

The client/therapist
relationship
is one of the strongest indicators of client success and the therapy hour is that rare occasion where one can feel safe sharing their thoughts, feelings, fears, disappointments, and dreams without judgment. My strengths as a therapist begin with my ability to make clients feel comfortable while being fully engaged and invested in their progress. My clients regularly comment on my ability to remember even the simplest of details from previous sessions even upon returning to therapy years later. I'm also continually adding to my knowledge base which allows me to add new dimensions to the therapy hour.

While an expert in my field, I am not an expert in your life and thus cultivate a collaborative
relationship
with you.
A call for therapy is placed because some area of life is just not working. As a psychologist, my focus is on assisting each individual, couple or family in working towards and reaching the goals that brought them in. Together, we identify the nature of the challenges being faced and work together to get life back on track. I practice as a family psychologist, working with whomever comes into my office. Each one of us is part of a bigger circle and thus the work also focuses on those with whom the person works or lives, as relevant.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
