Caring and strength-based counseling allows families, kids, and parents to rediscover old strengths, learn and develop new ones, all of which make it possible to walk a different path, away from problems and towards new pleasures. I can help you experience greater mastery and back in control of your life. We can handle a lot, but sometimes one extra stressor or life-changing incident throws us off balance. Then we feel
anger
, anxiety, and/or depression. Adding insult to injury, these negative emotions further stress us out, making it harder to find solutions and regain our balance in life.

For many of us, problems with concentration, low energy or motivation, and conflict with those close to us make each day a challenge, resulting in unhealthy coping methods. Anxiety and depression are oftentimes the cause for these difficulties. I help clients using a cognitive behavioral approach to treat those issues and others such as guilt, self-esteem, trauma,
anger
, addiction, GLBT issues, and family/behavior problems. I rely on a solution-focused, collaborative approach. My practice is geared toward children ages 8 & up, adolescents, and adults. Call for an appointment today so we may begin helping you achieve your goals.

Therapy with a stranger can be intimidating and scary, especially for individuals starting for the first time. I aim to create an inviting space filled with warmth and comfort. A space a client can share their challenges and concerns without a fear of judgement. A space my clients can feel seen and heard through empathy and unconditional positive regard.

When a man needs to fix a car, he finds the right tools. But when a man is feeling unwell on the inside, our society says, 'Man up!' – which is never the answer. Men by nature are problem-solvers, but without the right coping tools, you might be stuck. Shame or pride can hold you back, but don’t let it. Most of the men I work with say going to therapy was the best decision they made to truly solve problems, restore hope, and reclaim their lives. Let me help you to drive your relationships toward intention, passion and purpose.

Life brings about all ranges of human emotion and reaction. As we are all individuals, we have different perspectives on the challenges that tend to suddenly appear at our doorstep. It is a powerful realization to recognize when those experiences become too overwhelming to manage alone. Through a variety of psychodynamic, humanistic and behavioral theories, I work to use an integrative approach to therapeutic intervention in order to fit the treatment to the individual.

My intended target population is families, particularly children and adolescents with the hope that these skills can be refined throughout the course of their life. I also would like to specialize in marriage and family at some point to work with parents of these children to assist them in creating patterns that fit the lifestyle they are trying to create. Every client has a different perspective on what healthy living is and respect those boundaries accordingly. Therefore, I use an integrative humanistic theoretical approach that utilizes narrative and cognitive behavioral tactics to organize information and practice goal setting.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
