Life is rarely easy. At times, things start to feel unmanageable and we get overwhelmed. This can be due to life circumstances, a challenging diagnosis, or simply the realities of being human. The good news is, things can get better. Finding the right person to help you along the way is a huge step. I'd love to be your teammate in this journey. Working together, we'll get through this. I have been honored to help clients over the past 28 years managing anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, women's issues, marital, PTSD and many more. Just give me a call and we'll go from there.

I have special interest in working with men, couples, chronic insomnia, and people struggling with OCD.
When we're faced with adversity, we have two choices: to do nothing and hope that things improve on their own or to engage the problem and transform it. My approach to counseling is focused first on listening and then on helping my clients understand themselves and their ultimate concerns in a deeper way so that they can live fuller, happier lives. My practice uses evidence based treatments and is results oriented. Visit the outcomes tab on my website for more information on my clinical outcomes.

Now accepting new clients for EMDR - a cognitive/neurological and somatic therapy. Many high-achieving professionals carry invisible pressure to perform, to succeed, to hold everything together, often at the expense of their emotional wellbeing. I provide identity-focused, stress-relief, and attachment-informed therapy for driven individuals who are ready to understand the roots of their perfectionism, burnout, or relational struggles. Using EMDR alongside relational and trauma-informed approaches, we address the formative experiences and internalized beliefs that fuel chronic stress.

Life is a roller coaster that can be very stressful. These last few years have been challenging. Life is hard! I have been there! I am here to help. What can you do when you feel tired and overwhelmed? I learned how to manage anxiety, depression, panic attacks, sexual abuse, trauma, and grief. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside others who are looking to deal with similar issues. I work with females ages 10-100. I use various models like CBT, DBT, solution-focused and trauma-informed therapy. I also love to incorporate humor and laughter into our time together. Let's talk and see if I can help.

My approach to therapy appeals to psychologically-minded individuals and couples who seek a deeper understanding of themselves and others in their pursuit of physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual wholeness. While I tailor treatment to each individual or couple, I typically rely on relational psychodynamic psychotherapy—an evidence-based therapeutic approach rooted in the psychoanalytic tradition. The term psychodynamic reflects an appreciation for the complexity of the human mind and the fact that there are “dynamics” outside our immediate awareness that impact our emotions and actions.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
