You may be feeling overwhelmed by a recent turn of events--the death of a loved one, a bad break-up, becoming a parent, changing careers. Or perhaps you're struggling with more longstanding issues (low self-esteem, for instance) that you've tried to resolve on your own. We face so many pressures about who we should be and how we should live our lives. Sometimes we end up hiding parts of ourselves or conforming to belong. And we lose touch with who we truly are and what makes us feel alive. This disconnection to our truth can lead to feeling not good enough, lonely, depressed and anxious. Imagine feeling whole and accepted..

Areas of interest include depression , anxiety, people in transition, relationship conflict, divorce/remarriage, blended families, trauma, PTSD, grief & loss.
Sometimes life can be challenging, to the point that you might feel overwhelmed with everything that is occurring and finding someone to talk to can be difficult at best. I use Integrative psychotherapy techniques in my work with adolescents, adults, & couples which allows me to consider the individual characteristics, preferences, needs, abilities, spiritual beliefs, & motivation level of each individual client and presenting concern. By combining elements drawn from different schools of psychological theory & research I aim to be more flexible & inclusive, making therapy something to look forward to.

There are times that our thoughts take up a great deal of our life and lead us to be afraid, confused, angry or to feel defeated. I have supported many individuals when they are experiencing this level of depression and hopelessness. This may be the lowest point of your life, and you may be exhausted from feeling this way. As a therapist I love to sit with clients as we explore these thoughts together to see what is leading to these strong feelings and emotions. My goal is to see my clients heal and allow them to gain control in their life, as I believe they all have this ability inside of them.

I work with a wide range of issues, and I specialize in treating adults, college students, adolescents, and children with depression , grief, identity and relationship issues, anxiety, and trauma.
We live in a stressful, sometimes chaotic world. My approach to therapy is to offer something that is often missing: a place to slow down and reflect, to have an open and honest conversation, to have your thoughts and emotions validated, and to put your life in a broader perspective. Therapy can transform your symptoms into a story that you can share with others, leading to a deeper sense of identity and belonging. Another aspect of my work is to offer clinical services, public speaking, and consultation on the impact of the overuse of digital technology on mental health. My website for these services is scotthbecker.com

This treatment style is effective for many mental health concerns including: Anxiety, depression , OCD, negative self-dialogue, PTSD, worry, relationships, self-esteem, self-harm, body image and addictions.
Often family history and life experiences have taught us unhealthy skills of dealing with the painful events in our lives. You may have found yourself in place where you are reacting in ways you never thought you would and not living the life you want. It's common to not even know why you are feeling the way you do. Exhaustion, frustration, anger and being easily overwhelmed are just a few common indicators there is something going on with your emotional self. If you are struggling know there is a different way.

Life is already challenging. When things like depression or anxiety arise, it can become downright unbearable. Alyssa understands the tremendous pressure that work, housekeeping, relationships, and simply being a human being in this world can carry. If you are an adult, and you, your partner, your family are looking for a safe environment to exist, learn, and interact, I would love to help you create that! Before treatment, many times the goal is to survive; I want to help you build the skills that will allow you to thrive. Because one thing is certain – life can feel worth living even when things start to run off course.

In my role as a clinical therapist I have found my passion in helping others remember and re-experience their own strengths and courage. I use a combination of several clinical interventions that have a strong solution focused baseline with plenty of room carved out for processing and simply feeling what needs to be felt. In my work I focus heavily on those who are seeking to recover from trauma, the impacts of severe and persistent mental health symptoms, religious trauma, sexual abuse as well as those who face anxiety, depression and ADHD symptoms.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
