I have a private practice working with individuals, couples and families. I also work extensively with teens and children. My primary focus is working with stress, anxiety disorders and depression; however, I also work with addictions, eating disorders, parenting issues and basic conflict resolution . I follow a cognitive/behavioral approach for anxiety and depression, as well as a psychodynamic approach in other areas. My goal is to help my clients develop a clearer understanding of their feelings, thoughts and emotions, and then begin to work to make positive, life-enhancing changes in their lives.

Greetings! I am the owner of Brugmansia Counseling Group. Brugmansia is a flower that blooms and only becomes most fragrant at night. The flower is also known as "Angels Trumpets". I chose Brugmansia's name because I desire to help provide my clients with the tools they need in order to continue to flourish even through life's darkest moments. I strongly believe in providing a safe and nonjudgmental space for my clients in order for clients to trust the therapeutic process and begin to regain focus, plan, problem solve, and get in touch with their true self.

I specialize in insight oriented psychotherapy as well as a brief form of solution focused counseling and coaching. I serve as Executive Director of PCS, with outpatient clinics in Northville and Brighton, where I provide individuals,couples, and families with an integrated therapy which combines cognitive behavioral and psychoanalytic approaches.

I believe that in order for therapy to be effective, it has to be individualized to your specific needs, meaning my approach is flexible and responsive to your unique situation. The type of therapy I practice is meant to engage you in a collaborative working relationship, where your strengths are honored and respected, your feedback is taken seriously, and we work together to help address the challenges you are experiencing. I try to be respectful of and responsive to what will be helpful to you in session, to assist you in addressing the concerns that brought you to therapy.

I provide individual counseling for children, adolescents and adults in an outpatient setting. I utilize evidence-based practices with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavior Therapy and a Client-Centered Approach.

Special Note: The current global pandemic has presented many unforeseen consequences; including consequences around social distancing. Decreased social contact can present emotional challenges to all types of people. Tele-mental health may be an appropriate way to address these challenges. My integrative style allows me to tailor treatment to the individual. My experience includes working with people of all ages and stages of life. I have extensive experience working with clients having anxiety, depression, attachment struggles and personality disorders.

I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders, specifically OCD, using a cognitive-behavioral treatment approach. My work is intended to be short-term and solution-focused, with an emphasis on changing the thoughts and behaviors that keep us anxious. Sessions are conducted both in person and online, depending upon the needs of each client. My goal is to help them to learn how. Each and every client has a special goal and I am willing to incorporate a variety of techniques to get them to that goal. As a therapist, I continually go to trainings and workshops to improve my practice. I am able to incorporate all of the strategies to create a path for each client.

As a marital and family therapist, I work with couples and individuals in various stages of relationship including: committed couples who need help processing and repairing relationship wounds and trauma; divorced or divorcing couples working towards a cooperative divorce or co-parenting relationship; step-family and adoptive family challenges; pre-marital couples looking to enhance a solid foundation; families looking for help in navigating through life stage transitions including parenthood, children entering puberty and adolescence, and the empty nest.

I am an experienced Professional Counselor with many years of experience working with both children and adults. I earned my Masters Degree in Professional Counseling from Central Michigan University in 2004 and have over 10 years post masters experience. I have experience working with children and adults in the areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment to life challenges, self-esteem and relationship concerns.
