Feeling misunderstood and emotionally confused in relationships? Wishing for connection but fearing rejection? Longing for independence yet seeking validation from others? At times, our thoughts, feelings, desires, and behaviors can seem confusing, leaving you conflicted, overwhelmed, and questioning whether you're too much, or not enough. I work with those who want to understand why these patterns persist, heal old relational wounds, and experience deeper emotional stability and self-worth. I also work with couples looking to restore connection after serious ruptures or years of small tears.

My aim is to aid my mentees on moving from compromised to optimized states. Many individuals I connect with maintain survival and coping mechanisms for years until they choose to inquire about thriving. Change is often sabotaged despite desire for growth due to uninterrupted subconscious cognitive loops. In our sit downs, we will assess various dimensions of your current experiences and explore techniques that can enhance psychological flexibility and detachment from unnecessary suffering. I specialize in treating various substance and process addictions with a focus on human performance and alignment.

I work with children and adults experiencing mental and emotional difficulties. Every client is a unique individual who deserves a tailored approach to therapy. Depression, anxiety, and problems relating to oneself and to others can be challenging to heal, but therapy can offer real change and can help build resilience across the lifespan. Together, we'll work through the core conflicts, painful experiences, and difficult to manage behaviors that cause psychological suffering. For child and most adolescent clients, I work closely with parents in weekly or biweekly sessions to help them make the most of their child's therapy.

My ideal clients are individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, burnout, or major life stressors, specifically first responders, law enforcement professionals, veterans, and high-performing professionals. Many come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or stuck after years of carrying stress alone. Using EMDR, CBT, and practical, solution-focused approaches, I help clients process trauma, build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and regain control of their personal and professional lives.

Life is predictably unpredictable. Despite this, adapting to challenges may not always feel familiar or simple. Feeling understood and accepted is a powerful aspect to dealing with change, but not always available or prevalent. My goal is to provide support and tools while navigating through a variety of struggles and challenges. This does not require someone come in with a well-constructed plan. Therapy can be used to develop strategies and next steps. For over ten years I have had the pleasure of working with members of the community to find their best path forward.

Do you ever feel like you're just not thriving like you would like to be? For over 20 years, I have been on a journey to understand what helps people heal and thrive. Along the way, I have earned master's degrees in Clinical Psychology, Physical Therapy, and Applied Positive Psychology, as well as a background in Kinesiology and certification as an Athletic Trainer. My work with local athletes, professional teams, and U.S. national teams has taught me one thing above all: mental, emotional, and physical health are deeply connected and lasting change happens when we address the whole person.

Therapy offers a unique opportunity for personal growth, and the therapeutic relationship can be a powerful catalyst for this change. Past traumas can leave lasting scars, making it difficult to feel safe and connected. I am committed to providing an empathetic and safe space where you can gently explore these experiences, develop healthy ways to process them, and create a path towards healing. We all have unique experiences, yet the emotions they leave behind—fear, anger, even numbness—are universally felt and understood. Growth and understanding are within your reach, and it all starts with you.

Counseling is about the relationship. It is not the counseling technique that matters as much as it is about the connection between the client and the counselor. It is my intent to help you feel comfortable sharing your struggles, desires, and goals while also providing you with a safe and calming environment that creates a relationship that allows for trust and growth.

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based sound therapy grounded in Polyvagal Theory, designed to support nervous system regulation. Whether you experience underactivity (e.g., inattention, depression, social withdrawal), overactivity (e.g., anxiety, sleep issues, reactivity), or complex dysregulation (e.g., trauma, sensory sensitivities, social struggles) of the nervous system, SSP gently stimulates the vagus nerve in order to foster greater nervous system regulation, resilience, and improved capacity for emotional balance. SSP retrains the nervous system creating a foundation for deeper healing and lasting change.

I am not a normal therapist. I am told that I am gifted at being very intuitive and perceptive so I catch on in a hurry and tend to give a lot of feedback rather than "uh huh and how do you feel about that?' .I am able to break things down into easy to understand language so clients better comprehend their personal issues and ways to heal and to better manage their lives. This is communicated with warmth, compassion, and a sense of humor.I am very active with my clients.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
