I am an Imago Relationship Therapist and am trained in the Hakomi Method and Internal Family Systems.
After being a psychotherapist for 30 years, learning and growing on the journey, I now am passionate about supporting my clients to open to learning about all the aspects of themselves, dark and light, and bringing love and acceptance to it all. It is here that we find true happiness and purpose. Through awareness, we find our way to ceasing judgement and the eternal push to find happiness outside of ourselves.. And as we learn to be in the present moment, we develop valuable skills for self regulation and resilience, freeing us to live the life of our dreams.

Rediscover your happiness - or redefine it. Evolve stale relationships; generate meaningful experiences at work; introduce more peace and unity at home. Wherever you are struggling, I help you create a new lense through which you will gain insight into your thought patterns and behaviors and ultimately feel better. I earned my Masters degree in both clinical/community and school counseling, and a Masters degree in secondary education. I taught for 11 years, incorporating much adolescent, group, and family counseling during that time. I have expanded to counseling individuals and couples of all ages, including families.

I tailor my treatment to each family or client's personal needs and am flexible in my structure for sessions, letting client's set the tone.
Life can be overwhelming at times for all of us. I recognize the strength that it can take to identify that and then ask for help. I appreciate the courage and strength it takes to be vulnerable with others, especially someone new. I welcome clients to my office by letting them set the pace for therapy. As a therapist, I am here to support and to guide, not to force the process. So come and have a seat with me and let us figure out what you need together.

Is your family going through a major life change or stressor? Perhaps a parent or child is sick? Maybe there has been a loss, a move, or another big event? As a parent, you want so badly to support your child when they are dealing with changes, but sometimes you just don't know how. You might feel guilty, sad or frustrated that you don't know how to help. Your child may need their own space to process what is going on for them, as well as a safe space where you can work through these adjustments together. Therapy can be that space.

Asking for therapy is not easy, but it is a sign of strength that I support. My practice is client-centered, based on a systems approach & family -of-origin themes/issues. I focus on helping my clients to find solutions to their emotional challenges and to work through transitions, crises, trauma & adjustments so they can develop & enhance their behavioral health. Psychotherapy can help. At its heart, psychotherapy is about listening. And you, feeling truly heard in a new, and refreshing way. As a therapist I strive to listen with compassion and interest to help my clients hear their own voice. Reflected, this offers possibilities for greater self understanding, change, and new direction. The therapeutic relationship serves as a catalyst for the positive changes that you as a client seek.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
