I love working with women/femmes that are ready to start doing the deeper work required to build a life that's fulfilling and in alignment with their authentic selves. If you're overwhelmed by life, stuck in people-pleasing mode, feeling depressed or anxious, struggling with parenting, and/or dissatisfied with your relationships, I can help. I work with my clients to safely yet critically explore their upbringing and past experiences so they can better understand the root of their challenges and better overcome them. We'll work together to identify and change thought & behavior patterns that are no longer serving you!

Life is predictably unpredictable. Despite this, adapting to challenges may not always feel familiar or simple. Feeling understood and accepted is a powerful aspect to dealing with change, but not always available or prevalent. My goal is to provide support and tools while navigating through a variety of struggles and challenges. I strive to provide a holistic therapeutic approach that best fits each individual I work with.

I will never forget that terrible feeling that engulfed me. I was 19 years old and struggling just to catch my breath. I couldn't focus on anything but the sheer panic. I was having my first panic attack. It was a trusted therapist who came to my rescue. My therapist turned out to be a lighthouse for me when I was lost. With compassionate guidance she helped me heal and rid myself of the anxiety and panic. I valued what she did so much that it became my goal to also be that lighthouse for others who are drowning.

Rediscover your happiness - or redefine it. Evolve stale relationships; generate meaningful experiences at work; introduce more peace and unity at home. Wherever you are struggling, I help you create a new lense through which you will gain insight into your thought patterns and behaviors and ultimately feel better. I earned my Masters degree in both clinical/community and school counseling, and a Masters degree in secondary education. I taught for 11 years, incorporating much adolescent, group, and family counseling during that time. I have expanded to counseling individuals and couples of all ages, including families.

My blog is my calling card. Healing, positive change, and personal growth from the inside out is not for cowards. Read my blog to understand where I am coming from. Even if you believe you already know "everything" there is to understand about your specific circumstances, guess what? There is always another way to look at what you are struggling through. My job is to come up along side you and assist you in recognizing what you need to learn (and then do!)---as well as what you need to let go of (once and for all!). You will learn how to set yourself free from those chains that bind you. Live in peace, not in pieces anymore.

I am not a normal therapist. I am told that I am gifted at being very intuitive and perceptive so I catch on in a hurry and tend to give a lot of feedback rather than "uh huh and how do you feel about that?' .I am able to break things down into easy to understand language so clients better comprehend their personal issues and ways to heal and to better manage their lives. This is communicated with warmth, compassion, and a sense of humor.I am very active with my clients.

Life can be challenging. Finding a therapist that you connect with and trust can be even more challenging. As a thoughtful and empathetic therapist, my job is to provide a safe and welcoming space to focus on deepening the understanding of yourself, together. Therapy is a way of nurturing the process of healing and growth to promote positive change. Growing up in a minority community, I know the struggles of reaching out for support. The most difficult part of your journey is often taking that first step. After you reach out to me, we will work collaboratively to develop a transparent plan for treatment.

Is your family going through a major life change or stressor? Perhaps a parent or child is sick? Maybe there has been a loss, a move, or another big event? As a parent, you want so badly to support your child when they are dealing with changes, but sometimes you just don't know how. You might feel guilty, sad or frustrated that you don't know how to help. Your child may need their own space to process what is going on for them, as well as a safe space where you can work through these adjustments together. Therapy can be that space.

Are you feeling out of sorts? Maybe overwhelmed, sad, down, worry too much, hurt too much, and don’t know what do to next? Or maybe you are experiencing deep grief and would like some relief from the relentless tears and sadness. Believe me you are not alone. Remembering times in my life when I did not even know what I was feeling, I felt so isolated, lost and confused. I happened to stumble upon a professional that helped me. Someone that I could trust and felt very comfortable with. I was very hesitant to take this step but somehow I did. It was by far the best thing I have ever done for myself. This is why I became a therapist.

I help adults, couples, and families to finally experience the type of connection and relationships they long for. Many of us can use support in achieving true self-awareness, self-love, and the courage to be authentic; all are required for rich relationships. Through a safe, collaborative environment, I help clients to manage depression & anxiety, process relationship dynamics, heal old wounds, shift their narratives, manage life changes, and feel present. I help couples and families improve communication, improve connection and intimacy, learn how to repair, and work through issues like infidelity, parenting, separation & loss.

Life can be overwhelming at times for all of us. I recognize the strength that it can take to identify that and then ask for help. I appreciate the courage and strength it takes to be vulnerable with others, especially someone new. I welcome clients to my office by letting them set the pace for therapy. As a therapist, I am here to support and to guide, not to force the process. So come and have a seat with me and let us figure out what you need together.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
