Rediscover your happiness - or redefine it. Evolve stale relationships; generate meaningful experiences at work; introduce more peace and unity at home. Wherever you are struggling, I help you create a new lense through which you will gain insight into your thought patterns and behaviors and ultimately feel better. I earned my Masters degree in both clinical/community and school counseling, and a Masters degree in secondary education. I taught for 11 years, incorporating much
adolescent
, group, and family counseling during that time. I have expanded to counseling individuals and couples of all ages, including families.

struggling with stress, anxiety or depression? Are there behavior problems at home or in school? Difficulty with self-control, managing emotions or navigating social situations can impact school success. It can be hard to know how to effectively parent your child when things are going well, let alone when there are challenges. The book of Proverbs reminds us of the importance of seeking wise counsel and this certainly applies to parenting! Whatever the struggle, if you are looking for solutions and peace in your situation - therapy is proven to help.

I’m a Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist specializing in treating adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Prior to obtaining my master's in Clinical Psychology, I have been in the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA) for over 3 years. During graduate school, I continued enhancing my experience by working hands-on with adolescents and adults as a behavioral technician and student therapist. Having spent thousands of hours treating adolescents and adults with ASD, I'm familiar with the lack of resources for teens and adults on the spectrum, which is what led me here!

I am not a normal therapist. I am told that I am gifted at being very intuitive and perceptive so I catch on in a hurry and tend to give a lot of feedback rather than "uh huh and how do you feel about that?' .I am able to break things down into easy to understand language so clients better comprehend their personal issues and ways to heal and to better manage their lives. This is communicated with warmth, compassion, and a sense of humor.I am very active with my clients.

Are you feeling out of sorts? Maybe overwhelmed, sad, down, worry too much, hurt too much, and don’t know what do to next? Or maybe you are experiencing deep grief and would like some relief from the relentless tears and sadness. Believe me you are not alone. Remembering times in my life when I did not even know what I was feeling, I felt so isolated, lost and confused. I happened to stumble upon a professional that helped me. Someone that I could trust and felt very comfortable with. I was very hesitant to take this step but somehow I did. It was by far the best thing I have ever done for myself. This is why I became a therapist.

Life can be overwhelming at times for all of us. I recognize the strength that it can take to identify that and then ask for help. I appreciate the courage and strength it takes to be vulnerable with others, especially someone new. I welcome clients to my office by letting them set the pace for therapy. As a therapist, I am here to support and to guide, not to force the process. So come and have a seat with me and let us figure out what you need together.

Asking for therapy is not easy, but it is a sign of strength that I support. My practice is client-centered, based on a systems approach & family-of-origin themes/issues. I focus on helping my clients to find solutions to their emotional challenges and to work through transitions, crises, trauma & adjustments so they can develop & enhance their behavioral health. I avoid "cookbook" approaches, and use evidence & strength-based psychotherapy & counseling to guide adults, youth, families & couples to achieve their own positive solutions.I enjoy helping young adults, teens, & other helping professionals/educators deal with life stressors effectively.

Life is rarely easy. At times, things start to feel unmanageable and we get overwhelmed. This can be due to life circumstances, a challenging diagnosis, or simply the realities of being human. The good news is, things can get better. Finding the right person to help you along the way is a huge step. I'd love to be your teammate in this journey. Working together, we'll get through this.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
