I view the professional relationship as one where we can build trust through transparency and dedication. Ideally, clients should be in a place where they are ready to work on their goals and issues. This will require looking closely at their life and identifying the parts where they would like improvement and then coming up with a plan together on how to implement skills to change those areas in their life they are not satisfied with.

You’re defeated, broken, and feeling trapped in your past. Life has not been easy for you and along the way you seem to have lost who you are. The trauma you have experienced is affecting you daily, making you feel helpless. Unable to love yourself you struggle to set and maintain boundaries. The pressure to please others is exhausting and you can't seem to find balance or support in your life. Your history of abuse triggers you to impulsively react- rather than logically respond during difficult situations. You’re looking for guidance to process through all the baggage, uncertainty, and stress.

Finding the right therapist is essential, and beginning by developing a trusting and respectful relationship is where the journey begins between therapist and client. I believe that people can experience true healing and reconcile their past and their present. You can use what you learn to shed old patterns that no longer serve you. Communication is key, and in learning how to do this within yourself, you can create change to achieve a better quality of life.

I have experience in a wide range of areas including; parenting, childhood trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, substance use disorders, life transitions, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, depression, education, athletics, coaching, and supervision.
I'm passionate about helping others. I went back to school in my 40's to do just that. Prior to obtaining my Master's degree, I had years of professional experience in assisting others including being certified alcohol and drug counselor. I'm now an LLPC and CADC and have been counseling for the past 8 years. Clients will have an opportunity to de-stress and find their best self when working with me. My style is conversational and solution focused. I work hard to alleviate any anticipated discomfort of counseling. I work with BCBS, Priority Health some Medicaid plans and private pay clients.

Clinically, I have worked in the Community Mental Health system and in a private practice prior to opening my own private practice. I am trained in 10+ evidenced-based practices like Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy, used in treating PTSD, the Nurturing Parent Program (NPP), and Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT). My passion is to help others to live life as the best version of themselves, regardless of their age or presenting issues. I believe that each of us is just one person away from reaching that goal of a happy life, and if I can be that for you then it is a win for us both.

Most people leave the first session with a strategy for the work that we will be doing together. If you are not satisfied with your first hour it will be free. I've only had 2 couples in 15 years want their money back, so be ready to get better.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
