Hello, are you struggling with anger, anxiety, depression, past family hurt or trauma? Are you an adult trying to figure out what your future looks like? If you are I would love the chance to work with you to reach your fullest potential. Friedrich Nietzsche said
"He who has a why to live can bear almost any how" and I believe that therapy at its best is driving towards the why in order to move out in to a fuller, richer, more meaningful life. If you are searching for you "why" today is the day to start discovering your deeper self and living a more fulfilling live.

My background includes treating a broad array of mental and substance use disorders in the outpatient therapy setting.
My work consists of providing a welcoming, profoundly non-judgmental atmosphere where one can experience the safety that human relationships may offer. I truly believe people first need the basics. We connect and flourish in therapy when provided with acceptance, respect and dignity in a non-shaming relationship. I take a holistic approach and incorporate foundational needs that are often overlooked. Sometimes the simplest solution may be most effective, while other situations may call for a deeper dive that will uncover a path to healing. Regardless, I leave the direction and pacing up to my clients to preserve autonomy.

I have 11 years experience with substance use/abuse and am certified as an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Clinical Trauma Professional.
Everyone has experienced trauma: either "small-t trauma" such as grief/loss, verbal abuse/bullying, injuries/illnesses, or instability in the home or "large-T trauma" such as rape, assault, physical/sexual abuse, or debilitating injury/illness. As a result of trauma, some individuals experience disruptive memories and/or emotional distress from current situations. I assist clients in gaining insight on their situations as well as the development of specific skills and behaviors that will help to reduce emotional distress. I believe that every client has the ability to heal from trauma.

JumpStart 2 Recovery specializes in treatment of mental health and Substance Use Disorder.
It’s the struggle between not being understood and not being able to communicate your needs. There’s a solution, but its only temporary and causes just as many problems as it solves. Wallowing in shame, doubt and embarrassment is starting to weigh too heavy. Conflicting racing thoughts and emotions make the situation that much worse.

Are you exhausted of things building up and causing you to feel overwhelmed? Are you tired of trying to get out of old habits, just to continue to feel stuck, or maybe you don't even know where to start? Do you spend all day avoiding and numbing your feeling, just so you can function, then find yourself blowing up or having extreme emotions later? Is all the mental junk getting in the way of your career, parenting, and/or having healthy relationships? Do you want to actually heal on a deep level and want someone to challenge you, instead of someone to just talk to and say "uh, huh, how does that make you feel?"

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
