I have experience with crisis stabilization, depression, grief, anxiety, family conflict, and adolescent therapy.
Life is like a ball of yarn. It starts wrapped up nicely in a neat fashion. As time goes on it becomes tangled, knotted, and difficult to unravel. My goal as a therapist is to help you unravel those difficult emotions and encourage you when it seems like the knot will never come undone. I use body work, mindfulness, and person-centered approaches in my practice. During sessions we may sit on the floor, move our bodies, grab a cozy blanket or have a warm cup of tea. My goal is to help you find a place of peace in life.

I have extensive training to help individuals who have experienced many forms of trauma, abuse, grief and loss.
Just like our thinking patterns, muscle memory & body patterns are important to address in treatment. You don't have to relearn to ride a bike after every winter. This same principle applies to stress/trauma/anxiety/anger responses in the body & is important to address on your journey toward healing. Sensorimotor Processing helps facilitates this process.

Much of my experience has been working with adults who are coping with depression and anxiety related to life transitions, relationship issues, grief and chronic illness.
Sudden or unexpected change, as well as an absence of change or being stuck, can bring on feelings that prevent us from living fully. Change may not be gentle or easy, but dedicated time with the right support can help move you toward improved well-being.

I specialize in addressing depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, post-traumatic stress, and grief with focus on women in the chaos of life, as well as assisting engaged and married couples.
Counseling with grace in the thick of life. Let’s talk about life. It can be rough and messy and complicated. We all need support, encouragement, and grace to get us through the daily struggles and guilt that can feel suffocating. I would like to be the person that provides that for you. As a therapist, educated with a solid foundation in Christ’s love and life-giving words, I am ready to invest in you. Thank you for setting aside time for yourself by pursuing counseling. It is not always easy to make a decision that seems to only benefit you, but counseling benefits all who interact with you.

I primarily work with individuals who are 18 years or older of all genders and sexualities, and who struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief and loss, relationship stress, codependency, sexual assault, family conflict, and childhood trauma.
I also primarily work with athletes who are struggling with life, work, school balance, performance anxiety, and other hardships. I enjoy using a cognitive behavioral lens as I believe it gives the client the power in therapy to set their own direction and treatment goals. I enjoy using a person-centered, strengths-based, and interpersonal framework as well.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
