I address parenting issues, social skills, family conflict, and transitions including entrance into college and the workforce.
Currently offering daytime appointments only I aim to meet the individualized needs of each person, couple, and family I work with and take a collaborative approach in setting goals for therapy. I use a family systems approach to explore how multiple areas of a person's life impacts their experiences and current struggles. I work on achieving these goals through personal exploration, role play and exercises used in and outside of session, implementation of improved communication skills, and boundary setting.

I would like to help my clients on their journey of self-discovery. I feel it is important for one to understand all that makes them who they are and how they function, so that when they make goals, they are able to achieve them. If you are struggling through anxiety, depression, trauma, or low self-worth, then I want to work with you, whether it means working with you and your partner, your family or on your own. When you are able to understand yourself and your needs, then the tools and skills needed to help you are easier to select and be more useful in our counseling together.

As a therapist, I pull from several modalities, including emotionally-focused therapy (EFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, compassion-focused therapy (CFT), and the internal family systems (IFS) model.
I'm a mental health therapist at Wild Ferns Wellness Center in Lansing, MI. My mission as a therapist is to provide my clients a safe, affirming, accessible environment – to fall apart, to unmask, to take up space. I welcome clients of all backgrounds, but I especially love doing this work with queer, fat, and neurodivergent folks. I center fat liberation, abolition, and social justice in all the work I do. Through everything, I seek to walk alongside my clients and help them cultivate growth and hope.

I often build trust and rapport quickly, while instilling hope and optimism. Therapy is performed both in person and tele therapeutically, helping to ameliorate symptoms and improve overall functioning in those that I serve. In addition to individual therapy, I really enjoy and have found success in performing couples counseling/family therapy and often have evening hours that make it easier for both partners/children to get into therapy consistently. For years, clients have felt relaxed and heard in the sessions, making continuing therapy seamless for many. Scheduling is easy, at your leisure, via a portal when you are ready.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
