Everyone deserves to be seen, heard, understood and therapy is a great place to start. In therapy, I provide an accepting space to promote healing, and develop skills and strategies to overcome life's challenges. I believe therapy can help you accept yourself and begin to live a life based on who you truly are or who you want to be that is still evolving.
I provide individual psychotherapy to clients who are experiencing distress in their lives. This includes children, adolescents, adults, and families struggling with issues such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, life changes, and a wide range of psychosocial stressors. I am a graduate of University of Central Florida, Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, a top ten program in the nation. I have experience working in private practice and residential facilities treating severe and persistent mental illnesses. We will work together in defining your goals and figuring out how to approach obstacles you may be facing.
Welcome! My name is Megan Monroe and I know that starting therapy can be an intimidating decision, but I aim to provide my clients with a safe and non-judgmental space to be themselves and process conflicts going on in their lives. I view therapy as a partnership, one where I can support you in your decision making, goal setting and healing. My goal is to assist clients in coping and processing with all of life’s difficulties, and ultimately live a life that is genuine and full of confidence. I have experience working in the mental health field with teens and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and more.
I have a deep passion for community development, culture diversity and human connection. In my experience my clients know themselves better than anyone, they are their own best resource when it comes to choosing the right treatment for them. I see our time together as a joint venture, our knowledge combined creates the solutions and tools needed to uncover patterns and emotions they may not even be aware of. I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual. My role as a therapist is to support you to make choices that empower you, and help you explore and resolve your current predicaments, or diagnosis.
Join me and jump in! My job is to guide and support you as you build a life worth living. I work with motivated individuals, couples, and families to go after their dreams, make life's difficult decisions, and move forward. I work with clients holistically and collaboratively. I believe that the core of therapy should be the relationship that we form during our work together. I will work hard to know and understand you. Using evidence-based techniques and therapies, I hope to help you make a difference in your life.
I am a Solution Focused, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist, which concentrates on problem solving rather than the situation itself. I create an environment that fosters the feeling that you have an advocate who helps you navigate through situations, which may be difficult. I love being a therapist and that comes through by demonstrating a genuine concern with the issues you bring forth. I am committed to engaging in meaningful dialogue with you in order to recognize and help foster an understanding of your struggles, needs, and personal goals. I will also strive to enable you to find strategies to cope with and resolve any issues.
Who are we kidding? Life is crazy and we all need someone in our corner! You are a unique person, and your challenges are too. I'm here to help you make sense of the craziness. I grew up frequently moving between my parents and family, and untimely ended up in the foster care system. With substance abuse in my family system, being a child and adult child of a dysfunctional family is something with which I am very familiar. I decided to pursue my education and help others instead of perpetuating the toxic family system.
Everyone struggles from time to time. Whatever has come your way - depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, emotional conflict or crisis - searching for relief is a courageous first step and a sign of great strength, not weakness. By helping people feel comfortable talking about the struggles in their lives, they can figure out ways to make things better. However, this is not easy, especially when you're overwhelmed. By providing real solutions to your struggles, I strive to help you mobilize your strengths and cope effectively with the life challenges you are facing.
I am here to help you through the toughest moments in your life; you do not have be alone in your struggles. I finished my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2019. I am working on my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through a CACREP-accredited program where I have gained theories and practical skills to assess and diagnose mental health disorders, provide evidence-based interventions, and empower people to live happier and healthier lives. I believe a counselor’s role is to help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil, seek to improve communication and coping skills, strengthen self-esteem, and promote behavior change and optimal mental health.
I respectfully welcome you to my practice. I have over 25 years experience in the mental health field working with trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, family of origin issues, relationship and co-dependency challenges. I will listen without judgement and help you identify and work through the barriers that hinder clarity, direction and positive problem resolution.
Everyone faces challenges in life and, at times, it is helpful to have extra support to work through those challenges. It is my hope that you will reach out for that support. As a licensed social worker, I have worked in the field for 6 years, working alongside adults as they navigate anxiety, depression, mood disorders, identity and many other concerns. I firmly believe that therapy is a collaborative process between the individual and the therapist. I value shared decision making and encourage open communication.
Asking for help can be difficult. I understand that entering therapy can be a big step and how important it is that you feel respected , seen and heard. My experience includes helping children, adolescents, adults, and families navigate difficult times in their lives and to feel empowered making changes in their relationships, careers or personal goals. Together, we will develop a treatment strategy that focuses on the issues and changes that you identify and are ready to address.
Our lives do not always go the way we planned. We all experience challenges and struggles and find ourselves searching for relief. I view therapy as a time to heal, grow, change, discover, and build. I have worked with clients to address such concerns as self-esteem, depression, anxiety, family and relationship issues, parenting, work and career concerns, life transitions, stress and coping, and grief and loss to name a few.
I am happy to work with people who are looking to strive toward their own personal strength, passion, and peace through counseling. I can provide support for an individual, couple, or entire family. I have completed Gottman Level 1 Couples Therapy Training, and enjoy helping to restore harmony to couples of all kinds. I am more than happy to make accommodations for fees based upon income for those who are uninsured, under-insured, or wish to not use their plan benefits. I look forward to developing a therapeutic alliance with clients while working toward resilience, independence, decision-making, and life competence.

What situation qualifies for counseling? My answer to that is being human. Many believe that counseling is only necessary for major life events. The truth is you do not have to be on the high end of the stress spectrum to seek professional support. Life can be hard. Counseling provides a supportive and nonjudgmental space to process all circumstances.
Everyone needs a little support from time to time. As we experience beautiful moments, we also experience setbacks and challenges in life. I will work with you to get through those challenges you may be facing in everyday life, as well as identify, understand, and change pattens of problematic thinking and behaving. It is important that I help you gain self-awareness to better understand how past experiences may be influencing current distress. With new understanding, you will be able to start moving forward and utilize practical strategies for improvement and growth.
