ADHD
? Has social media, yes TikTok/instagram, lead you to suspect you may have
ADHD
but don't know where to start. I'm passionate about helping you understand
ADHD
, how it affects YOU and what you can do with it.
ADHD
is widely misunderstood as a lack of focus or attention.
ADHD
is more accurately an issue of regulation which includes emotions, impulsivity, money, attention, sensory sensitivity etc. I work with clients on managing their symptoms, and also the anxiety and depression that stem from
ADHD

My ideal client is one that is struggling but wants to improve. Neurodevelopmental disorders are my JAM!
ADHD
, Learning Disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorders is where I direct much of my clinical experience. It's important to me that my clients (and their parents/families/teachers) understand the uniqueness of their disorder and how to turn a perceived deficit into a SUPERPOWER. All children are wonderful gifts, and I love helping children discover and embrace their best selves. A diagnosis does not define you, your child, or your family.

In the past, I have worked with clients with
ADHD
, Autism, anxiety disorders, trauma disorders, conduct disorders, and depressive disorders.
I believe in order to make changes in our lives, we must first examine the impact that past relationships, experiences, and environments have had on us. The therapeutic process allows us to examine and process how things that have happened to us can impact who we are as individuals and integrate the past into who we are in the present. The therapeutic relationship can help us to identify sources of resilience and strength that can help us to overcome past negative experiences. By connecting our past with who we are in the present, we can start the process of change.

I have worked with various populations concentrating on Adoption/Foster Care, Anger, Anxiety,
ADHD
, Behavior, Depression, Divorce Transitions, Impulse Control, Life Changes, Parenting Skills, School Problems, Self-Esteem, Cognitive Approaches for Sensory Processing Disorders, Social Skills Development, and Stress Management.
I believe therapy should take place in a safe, supportive, empowering, and confidential environment. Clients are active in the process, exploring areas including feelings, beliefs, and behaviors while working through personal history and identifying aspects of their lives they wish to change. Clients take a journey to better understanding of themselves and others. We will set personal goals, and work together toward desired change through reflection, processing and skill building. When working with children I work with the child individually and also invite parents/guardians into session to learn skills to utilize at home to support the child with change.

I use treatment strategies that are proven to help an individual heal from and manage trauma, anxiety,
ADHD
, depression, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and other mental health challenges.
Who are we kidding? Life is crazy and we all need someone in our corner! You are a unique person, and your challenges are too. I'm here to help you make sense of the craziness. I grew up frequently moving between my parents and family, and untimely ended up in the foster care system. With substance abuse in my family system, being a child and adult child of a dysfunctional family is something with which I am very familiar. I decided to pursue my education and help others instead of perpetuating the toxic family system.

(Limited openings; weekends available). It can be difficult to find the right therapist. While I provide research-based psychotherapy, my approach is a bit more unique than other therapists; I implement humor and creativity, along with compassion and candidness, into each session while still meeting a client’s specific needs. My easygoing and laid back approach aligns with my target demographic of teens and young adults. Additionally, I also offer evaluations, assessments, and testing, including IQ, personality, and behavioral analysis, such as

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
