Life is often really tough. My goal is to provide a safe space for my clients to share their story, their struggles, their victories and their goals so they can feel less alone and also have a therapeutic partner to sort through what they'd like to understand better about themselves in order to take new steps towards wellness and growth. Being understood by a compassionate person is strengthening, and so is having a therapeutic partner to help you think about what you're thinking about and what you'd rather be focusing on.

I take a holistic approach to the following specialties: depression, anxiety disorders, pain management, grief and loss, co-dependency, stress, divorce adjustment, trauma, women's issues, self esteem, aging parents, life transitions and spiritual growth.
Sometimes life challenges us with difficult circumstances and painful emotions. At these times we may not be able to see our way out with any clarity. A compassionate guide can be helpful. I have a deep respect for one's capacity to heal and I invite the integration of mind, body, spirit and emotions into this process. I explore with you the themes in your life that create blocks to feeling centered and fulfilled. While it is important to hear what you are saying, it is also important to hear what you are not saying, providing a deeper kind of listening.

When people have experienced loss, trauma, abuse, chronic stress, addiction or disconnection from others they may develop unhealthy patterns of responding. We can transform many of these patterns through increasing our own awareness. We all carry the answers to our own healing within us. I seek to make working with me accessible and welcoming to all. You are invited to come as you are. I'm here for you when you are feeling stuck, limited by stigma or shame, caught in past hurts, fearful, isolated, or in need of getting back to feeling like you.

Relationship and sexual issues can be hard to talk about. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck in cycles that no longer serve you, or simply unsure of how to move forward. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, past trauma, unwanted sexual behaviors or sexual problems, you're not alone in feeling like things shouldn't be this hard. You want clarity. You want relief. You want to feel like yourself again—or maybe discover who that is for the first time. My role is to walk alongside you as we explore what’s getting in the way of the life you want to live.

Life is a roller coaster that can be very stressful. These last few years have been challenging. Life is hard! I have been there myself! I am here to help. What can you do when you feel tired and overwhelmed? I learned how to manage anxiety, depression, panic attacks, sexual abuse, trauma, and grief. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside others who are looking to deal with similar issues. I work with females ages 12-100. I use various models like CBT, DBT, solution-focused and trauma-informed therapy. I also love to incorporate humor and laughter into our time together. Let's talk and see if I can help.

I am experienced in and enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I believe no one should have to walk alone through the challenges and difficulties of life. I consider it a privilege to provide support and encouragement to others while helping them to find the hope and healing God offers through His love and grace. I stress the importance of the therapeutic relationship as the means in which to help others gain personal growth and strength in order to live the life God has called them to live. I have been married 33 years and have four adult children.

Life is often so heavy, please know you don’t have to carry that weight alone. YOU matter. With honesty, authenticity, and a compassionate, and non judgemental approach, I will meet you where you are, and we will figure out a path forward together from there.

Life changes—and so do relationships.
What sustains a lasting connection isn’t perfection, but the choice to keep showing up for one another every day. When that intention fades, even subtly, the foundation of a relationship can begin to shift. As a therapist, I stay engaged in continuing education to expand my knowledge and perspective. But I only claim expertise in areas where I have lived experience. I believe that matters. You don’t have to share someone’s story to have empathy—but having been there myself allows me to offer a deeper level of support and understanding. Every family is blended in its own way.

Life is very full. In the mad dash to keep up, we can lose connection with ourselves and our people. This disconnection tends to leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or even checked-out. Therapy provides an empathic space to feel seen, which helps open doors to a deeper understanding of ourselves, our emotions, and our relationships. It is an opportunity to understand ways our past may be affecting our present experiences—and see the patterns therein. When we understand and empathize with these patterns, we can move toward growth to navigate life feeling more confident and capable.

I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of growth, and I work to build a warm supportive and understanding space for each individual. When working with clients, I utilize a holistic approach that considers aspects such as individual development and culture as well as interpersonal, physical, and spiritual experiences. I believe our breadth of experiences shape who we become. How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
