I work with clients who may be struggling with anxiety and depression related to marriage, family, or interpersonal relationships.
Counseling is vital because it provides a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Counseling offers the support needed to work through issues that are meant to weigh us down. My approach to counseling involves addressing problems, assessing personal growth, and encouraging self-reflection. Choosing counseling is an act of self-care and empowerment, helping individuals overcome challenges and emerge stronger, more resilient, and more in tune with their true selves.

I work with couples and families or individuals who may be struggling with communication, connection, or even trauma and the other impacts these things may have on the relationships.
Any client I see will immediately feel the desire and eagerness to first get to know them, then their reason for pursuing counseling and what we as a team can do about it. I come into all my counseling sessions with a humble and empathetic heart, and am honored to be able to be a part of God’s work in my clients’ lives as they overcome difficulties, find healing, and experience personal growth. Regardless of my client's faith and background I work to establish a strong direction for healing with goals decided upon by the collective agreement of the client and myself as their counselor.

My approach to therapy appeals to psychologically-minded individuals and couples who seek a deeper understanding of themselves and others in their pursuit of physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual wholeness.
The word "relational" in this context highlights the critical importance of an authentic client-therapist relationship in the process of healing. This type of psychotherapy cannot be done through treatment manuals, self-help books, or AI-powered chatbots. It is both a science and an art and requires extensive training and supervision for the therapist.

Life changes—and so do relationships.
Whether it’s a romantic partnership, a parent-child relationship, or two families coming together through marriage, each brings its own values, histories, and expectations. These dynamics can be rewarding—but also challenging. Maybe you’re navigating tension with your partner, their children, or the family unit as a whole.

Coming to therapy is a big step, however it can be a life altering step. I understand and have experienced the emotional challenges life has to offer. In working together, we will cultivate growth by understanding the obstacles that you face and develop solutions that can help you gain control of your life and achieve your goals.

I consider their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, emotions, spirituality, and relationships.
The purpose of my practice is to assist people in identifying mental, emotional, physical, social, and/or relational patterns that are counter-productive to the experience of the life they would like to create. Once identified, I assist the individual in transforming the old patterns through the use of a combination of mental health and human development principles, methods, and techniques that include education, spiritual, musical, behavioral, and coaching.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
