I am passionate about working with clients that are interested in creating positive changes in their lives. Internal motivation, I believe, plays a huge part in gaining control over yourself and the environment around you. People can do astounding things if they only believe in themselves and that can start with someone else believing in them first.

Everyone faces challenges in life and, at times, it is helpful to have extra support to work through those challenges. It is my hope that you will reach out for that support. As a licensed social worker, I have worked in the field for 10 years, working alongside adults as they navigate anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, identity and many other concerns. I firmly believe that therapy is a collaborative process between the individual and the therapist. I value shared decision making and encourage open communication.

The most important decision is not the one you made yesterday—it is the one you choose to make today. Meaningful change begins in the present. I work with individuals, couples, and families to help them regain clarity, build resilience, and move forward with confidence. Whether you are navigating relationship challenges, managing anxiety or depression, coping with stress, or addressing the lasting effects of trauma, I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment that fosters growth—personally, professionally, and spiritually.

Sometimes on life’s journey things become too difficult to manage on our own. I see therapy as “Life Support.” Life support to help you get to a place where you are thriving, enjoying life, and becoming the best version of yourself. My goal as a therapist is to help you feel comfortable and to provide a safe place to process and heal from life experiences and current stressors. I’m here to support you and walk alongside of you as you uncover the things that are stopping you from becoming the person you desire to be.

Counseling is vital because it provides a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Counseling offers the support needed to work through issues that are meant to weigh us down. My approach to counseling involves addressing problems, assessing personal growth, and encouraging self-reflection. Choosing counseling is an act of self-care and empowerment, helping individuals overcome challenges and emerge stronger, more resilient, and more in tune with their true selves.

My approach to therapy appeals to psychologically-minded individuals and couples who seek a deeper understanding of themselves and others in their pursuit of physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual wholeness. While I tailor treatment to each individual or couple, I typically rely on relational psychodynamic psychotherapy—an evidence-based therapeutic approach rooted in the psychoanalytic tradition. The term psychodynamic reflects an appreciation for the complexity of the human mind and the fact that there are “dynamics” outside our immediate awareness that impact our emotions and actions.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
