We all face difficult times in life but when it becomes harder to face life's challenges, depression or anxiety may be a factor. I view therapy as not only an opportunity to learn techniques to manage and cope with symptoms of depression and anxiety, but also as a journey of self exploration, awareness/understanding, and growth. While we can't change the past, we CAN heal contributing factors to depression/anxiety, such as family/relationship problems, trauma /abuse, substance abuse, codependency, and grief. My style is empathetic and supportive, providing a non-judgmental atmosphere for personal growth and change.

I have expertise in PTSD or trauma , depression, anxiety, lifestyle improvement and symptom relief.
I am a l psychotherapist with a practice of over 30 years experience working with adult individuals. I help people focus and gain insight in their problem areas with EMDR, "flash" technique, hypnotherapy, psycho-dynamic approach, and problem solving to reduce stress and maintain a balanced perspective and satisfying lifestyle. These techniques will relieve the stress of past painful experiences without dwelling or rehashing them. You can develop a relaxed, confident persona when inhibitions from the past are resolved. This is a very exciting time to be able to use new techniques to resolve issues permanently.

Extensive training in trauma -informed treatment has prepared me to offer excellent individual or group services to youth, adolescents, and adults.
You’re here. For now, this must be the place. For what, is up to you. Let’s be curious. What do you hope for? Let’s suspend judgement. What do you really want? What’s working well today? What isn’t? What are your options? Let’s be intentional. What will you choose? Let’s be compassionate. What might you soften, reframe, or re-do? Entering the process of counseling is like that classic song Under Pressure. Bowie and Queen said it so well: Can’t we give ourselves one more chance/…And love dares you to care for/The people on the edge of the night/ And love dares you to change our way of/ Caring about ourselves…/Under pressure…

**I am accepting new clients for Telehealth sessions** Are you still having depressed moods, despite being prescribed antidepressants? Are you experiencing anxiety or panic attacks even after having been in psychotherapy? For many people depression and anxiety, as well as other disorders can be difficult to treat successfully. This can be due to unresolved 'developmental trauma ', aka, trauma related to the attachment type you had to your parent(s). I am trained in many new treatments based on the latest understanding of brain science, that are effective in treating unresolved developmental trauma , depression, anxiety, etc.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
