Has life gotten messy? Maybe things did not turn out as you had planned. Sometimes life throws a lot at us, and things don't go as expected, but it can get better. You are enough just the way you are, and I am here to offer tools, support, and guidance to help you get back on track to a joyful life. I have worked in behavioral health for over 20 years and provide a nonjudgmental space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that is full of compassion and support. We will work together to reshape negative thoughts, dig deeper into unhealthy patterns, and find tools that may help us more successfully navigate the world.

I believe that resilience is in all of us and healing is a path we can choose to walk at any time if we are willing to take the first step. Sometimes even helping professionals need their own helper, someone to listen to their experiences and walk alongside them as they process the challenges of helping. Focusing on secondary traumatic stress and occupational stress issues I believe my role as a therapist is to support clients as they navigate their healing process.

9/9/25: I have very few openings at this time. For children, I do not have any after school slots available, but could do a daytime appointment if that aligns with your family's schedules. I'm an individual therapist who loves working with kids, teens, and adults (the toys can be for adults too!). I'm LGBTQIA+ aligned and allied. Some of my areas of interest include LBTQIA+ teens and young adults, anxiety, depression, trauma, smoking cessation, foster/adoptive families, religious trauma, and financial health. I enjoy working with kids and adults finding that a diverse caseload keeps me in a place of balance.

My areas of focus are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and Behavioral Activation.
If I could fix one thing for every person, it would be perfect sleep! Since I don't have a magic wand, yet, I prioritize using structured interventions to meet tangible goals. Our work together will be more directive then traditional talk therapy, but you're the boss and I'm here to help you figure out those directions.

After focusing my work for more than two decades on those looking for relief from anxiety or a history of trauma, I am turning my attention to a concentration in sleep disorders for ages 18+.
I work via telehealth so you can be located anywhere in Michigan. I will be using CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia) an approach I am training in at the Stanford School of Sleep Medicine. I have also completed a three-year training through the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD treatment.

If stress is the only way you get through executive dysfunction, I'm here to work it out with you. With a trauma-informed approach, I’ll support you in navigating ADHD, anxiety, relationships, and more. With clients that understand the "why" and feel frustrated with typical talk therapy, I use somatic experiencing to help your body process emotions and "feel your feelings" nonjudgmentally to explore what you need to feel safe. Come as you are (even with a snack or your pet!) and be vulnerable on your own time as we build trust. We'll get there when we get there, if we get there, if you want to get there.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
