My treatment approach is personal and integrative, in that I may integrate complementary interventions in thoughtful and intentional ways to help you make sustainable changes that will help you reach your goals.

I specialize in walking with individual's who are struggling with pornography addiction or other forms of unwanted sexual behavior. I also walk with individuals who have experienced the horrors of sexual, physical, emotional or spiritual abuse and the stress that often follows. And I have a heart for journeying with individual's who are grieving and those who are struggling with questions of identity and spirituality .

I've been in practice 25 yrs - with individuals/couples & families -- kids 6+, many teens, college students & adults. I'm shamelessly informal -- no ties or pressed shirts here!. The office is quite unique - - very large, ultra comfy, w/MANY natural oddities... slightly chaotic -- like life! Good strong coffee/tea/soda & munchies always available. Pets welcome. I'm adopted myself, a licensed foster parent, & work with trauma and attachment. I have a multi-cultural family & lived abroad (Africa). I do co-parenting therapy & am also very familiar w/court systems, working with Dr.'s, lawyers, schools and custody issues.

People enter into a counseling relationship when nothing else seems to be working. Although most people soon make comments such as, “(Counseling) was a lot better than I thought it would be”, few people seek counseling as a first option. More often we seek out techniques that either help us to temporarily avoid (e.g., media, social networking) our anxiety, or we seek temporary shots of pleasure (e.g., alcohol, food, pornography) that make us feel good for a short time. Soon enough we realize that all of these things leave us feeling more hollow and lonely, and that is when we start thinking about counseling.

We love working with clients with a variety of issues. We find it engaging and rewarding to help people find happiness and contentment. Our ideal client is one who is motivated for personal change and healthier relationships with others. We believe happiness is based in developing a kind characters and connecting with others. In order to develop kinder characters and healthier attachments, one must be willing to question their own actions, thoughts and beliefs. This process can be intimidating; yet is made easier with the kind support of a caring therapist.

I enjoy clients with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and problems. My personal style is warm and supportive, and my approach with clients is holistic in focus. My goal is for each client to achieve more personal awareness, emotional stability, and effective behavior as a result of our work together. Presenting issues might be: Depression; Bipolar disorder; Anxiety Disorders; Trauma/PTSD; Couple conflicts; Stress related medical problems; or Life transitions. I provide individual and couple therapy for teens and adults.

When working with clients, I stand by the phrase, "whatever the client brings, I will work with". Whatever issue or concern that is presented to me, I will help meet the needs to the best of my ability. In terms of specialty, I am primarily focused on relationship issues, which consists of couples work, sex issues, infidelity, adjustment issues, and so on.

I work with clients who are wanting to understand themselves more fully, figure out what may be holding them back from the life they've imagined for themselves, uncover what is beneath troubling behaviors, and/or find ways of being and relating that feel healthier and more fulfilling. Some clients come in speaking of feeling discouraged, restless, worried, unfulfilled, or unhappy within themselves and/or their relationships; others come in with just a vague sense that life could feel much better.
