For over twenty years I have offered support in relational work with children, teens, adults and families helping them navigate life transitions and offered information on supportive services.

We all have meaningful stories to tell, and I look forward to learning how I can be of service to you, whether it’s easing stress, improving communication, getting your relationship (with others and yourself) back on track or helping you develop healthy thinking patterns. I can help give you “tools for your toolbox” to help overcome life’s obstacles. My goal is for you to feel valued, safe, and heard while building a relationship of trust and understanding. I will walk alongside you and provide collaborative, action oriented and honest feedback to shape your journey towards a greater sense of freedom, meaning & purpose.

My ideal client is motivated to work in therapy and recognizes that therapy is as much about some pain as well as some joy. They have important issues in their lives and are searching for meaning, resolution, and growth because we all live in a world where these are not recognized, honored, or validated.

I created the 5 CORE Model of counseling to give individuals and couples a whole-health experience. I emphasize a multidimensional aspect of healing, focusing on the 5 aspects of our being: emotional, intellectual, spiritual, physical, and social. We are more than any one of these areas. Rather, we were created to develop all of them, in order for you to be free of anxiety, depression, or anything else that holds you back from living a productive and satisfying life.

My style is warm, with a desire to continually learn and use new skills that best suit the "hopeful" and the "hopeless." My life has been spent working with individuals and families and their experiences with sexual, substance, or physical abuse and trauma.

People enter into a counseling relationship when nothing else seems to be working. Although most people soon make comments such as, “(Counseling) was a lot better than I thought it would be”, few people seek counseling as a first option. More often we seek out techniques that either help us to temporarily avoid (e.g., media, social networking) our anxiety, or we seek temporary shots of pleasure (e.g., alcohol, food, pornography) that make us feel good for a short time. Soon enough we realize that all of these things leave us feeling more hollow and lonely, and that is when we start thinking about counseling.

Over the past eighteen years, I have worked in community mental health, residential and private practice facilities helping children, adolescents, and adults solve problems and make significant changes in their lives. I am a Limited Licensed Psychologist, Certified Trauma Specialist, Adoption Specialist and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important element in making lasting changes. Helping you feel comfortable so we can build a trusting and secure relationship is my goal.

I believe that every person that comes into therapy has the right to have their own individual life journey be the focus of therapy. I listen to the wants, and concerns of the client and then together we develop a strategy that the client(s) will be willing to apply to their lives. I have many tools from an eclectic range or psychological fields and a lifetime of real-life applications that I offer to each client.

My personal theoretical foundation is not limited to one approach. I believe it is necessary for counselors to be adaptive. Every client is different and our responses and approaches should be equally diverse. One person may need a cognitive behavioral approach whereas another would be more responsive to brief counseling. This eclectic approach will be applied to all clients. Techniques will vary between clients to best meet the individual client's needs.

I believe we all desire to live freely, love fully, be our real, true selves, and become our best selves. I want that for myself, and I want that you. But this earth we inhabit is a broken place, and life is messy and complicated. Relationships can be tricky too. Understanding and managing our own emotions, while trying to live with, and care for others and their stuff, often seems like an impossible endeavor. We all struggle with something or someone sometime, and there is no good reason to face yours alone. Life cannot be done on our own - it is too complex. We need others, others need us, and we all need GOD.
