I work with teens and adults from all walks of life, and especially love supporting other queer, neurodivergent, and highly sensitive people.
Hello! I’m Liz, a counselor and expressive arts therapist specializing in holistic care for those who feel overwhelmed or stuck - and crave creative solutions that go beyond talk therapy alone. People I work with are doing and feeling it all, and need a place to rest, process, and reset. Many are drained from navigating a world where they feel they can’t be their full selves. Together, we’ll make space for you to find authenticity and balance. My approach is collaborative, liberation-focused, and rooted in your experience, affirming all of you and the connection of your mind, body, identities, relationships, and culture.

Are anxiety or depression something you need help with? Do you have communication, relationship, or trauma based needs? I help my clients understand why they respond the way they do, and how to respond differently. Single parent struggle? I can help with that too! I've helped with self-harm behaviors, suicidal ideation, PTSD, anxiety, depression, anger, and other emotional, relational, and behavioral issues. I offer in office and telehealth appointments, and have limited evening availability. I'm willing to see adults, and children over 12 years of age. I currently only have daytime (9a - 3p) availability.

Mental well-being is key to overall health and happiness, but life’s struggles can affect our mental health. We may feel uncomfortable discussing these issues with loved ones, making it hard to face them alone. Having a supportive, empowering guide to help navigate emotional challenges is essential for healing and growth.

I have a deep passion for working with children and teens who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, autism, and ADHD.
I’m a Licensed Master of Social Work (MSW) with 12 years of experience in therapy. My journey began with a strong academic foundation, including coursework focused on becoming a school social worker, which has been incredibly valuable in my practice. Although I’m not currently working in a school setting, the knowledge I gained helps me guide and empower parents to advocate for their children within the school system.

Are you feeling trapped, hopeless, like things won't get better? Whatever challenge you are facing, you do not have to go through it alone. Too often, people shy away from counseling, but you would be amazed by the positive impact it can have on your life. I am here to support and encourage you, not to tell you what to do. No one is exempt from problems, but how an individual responds to that problem is key to resolving the issue and helps decrease symptoms such as anxiety and depression, which may come with an unwelcome situation. I am licensed to provide services in Alabama, Michigan, Kentucky, and South Carolina.

Have you been feeling overwhelmed with things in your life? Have you been feeling like your coping skills aren't working any longer? Have you been drinking alcohol or using drugs to make it through the day? If you said yes to any of these questions, then you are the closest you have ever been to changing your life. Being able to recognize that things aren't how you want them to be takes a lot of strength, courage and insight. Often suffering happens in silence. That is why I believe the way to get control of your life back is by sharing openly, and honestly about your experience without judgment.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
