The most important thing about therapy is having a good
relationship
with your counselor.
My focus is to help people recover, heal and live with purpose and strength. We achieve this together by holding a safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing an individualized treatment plan that's about you. I work with people on substance use issues, traumatic stress, and other causes of depression, anxiety, anger, or grief.

I aim to develop a trusting and therapeutic
relationship
; one that helps us to achieve our therapeutic goals.
Our own thoughts can be both a positive and negative place to be. I believe that psychotherapy, matched with a very warm, welcoming, and beneficial therapeutic
relationship
, can be a wonderful process in which we are able to see our thoughts in different ways. Through my own experience with therapy, I found that I was able to give my positive thoughts/experiences more room to shine, while also finding different, more beneficial perspectives, in which to view my maladaptive thoughts. This is an experience that I hope to be able to replicate with each and every one of my clients.

I have over 12 years of experience working with a range of issues, including grief, loss, trauma,
relationship
difficulties, life transitions, and anxiety.
It takes real courage for you to be here. Perhaps, you feel like you're stuck and you don't know what else to do. You keep trying to fix things on your own, but they aren't getting any better. Experiencing personal struggles,
relationship
difficulties, life changes, or significant trauma can change who we are and how we see the world. We later feel anxiety, pain, sorrow, fear, self-doubt, guilt, or shame.

I specialize in working with clients facing life stressors including anxiety, grief, PTSD, chronic medical illness, trauma, and depression. I believe therapy is a process and a journey. We will walk together on this journey and work to process thoughts, emotions and learn new ways of responding to life’s challenges. When we embrace our ability to feel and experience hard things, we learn self-love, empathy, and peace. I enjoy working with clients and developing a
relationship
by actively listening, advocating, and assisting in change through evidence based practices while providing a safe space for healing and growth.

Building a trusting
relationship
is the first step.
Asking for help can be hard. Working through basic life issues can be hard too. But working through them with someone you trust can shed a little hope on life’s more difficult days. The amount of people seeking mental health services has been steadily increasing as the stigma surrounding asking for help slowly fades away. There is no shame in asking for help; it could change your life for the better.

I work to create an environment that feels warm and supportive for each person. The
relationship
between the client and therapist is a true measure on how helpful the counseling experience will be for an individual. My goal is to guide and empower clients to make important meaningful changes in their life. I primarily use the methods of strength based and person centered talk therapy to achieve these outcomes. I believe everyone has the capacity to tap into the intuitive part of them self and use that wisdom to improve their life. People do have the ability to make positive changes in their life.

The right fit in the therapeutic
relationship
is so important! The session is about you and your needs from the very beginning, and through collaboration we learn and discover healing together.
I prioritize healthy relationships- with others, with ourselves, and with the world around us. I see the need for deeper emotional and physiological understanding to identify where we can become stuck with ourselves and in our relationships. I seek to create a space for introspection and self-compassion in the therapist-client
relationship
so that you can explore your authentic narrative, your inherent worth, and areas where you may need healing.

I like to take time to get to know each person and build a
relationship
with them that conveys trust, respect, and understanding. My goal throughout much of my career in mental health has been to be a support for individuals and to get the honor to walk with people in their journey to become the best versions of themselves. If I am chosen as your therapist, you can expect to be met with empathy, support, respect, and understanding. When anyone comes through my door, they can expect not to be judged or shamed for any of their history or previous experiences.

relationship
to heal and grow. I consider it a privilege to be a trusted professional with my clients who courageously reveal vulnerabilities while building on their gifts. The path of becoming more conscious--a healthier you--is a path for courageous and bold individuals.

My specialty areas include trauma and PTSD, women’s issues including perinatal counseling, chronic pain/adapting to physical health issues, depression, anxiety, grief,
relationship
concerns, ADHD, existential concerns, and identity.
My goal as your therapist is to support and empower you toward your goals and promote healing. I believe in listening to your story, helping you uncover your priorities, and offering the tools to help you decide next steps. This may involve utilizing the healing power of exercise, art, or play; it may also involve processing your thoughts on a deeper level verbally or through writing. I believe optimal health encompasses the whole person physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and creatively. I see all these areas as connected. Because every person is unique, I will tailor our time to your individual needs and interests.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
