I have experience working with individuals who are dealing with anxiety, depression, personality disorders, mood disorders,
relationship
problems and more.
In an ever-changing world, where we are torn between taking care of loved ones, meeting career expectations, and dealing with financial and personal health issues, it can be hard to find time to focus on ourselves, and what we as individuals really want and need. I strive to create a safe environment where clients can explore who they really are, and how they can live a life that leads to happiness and personal fulfillment.

The therapeutic setting provides a unique opportunity to pause the busyness of everyday life and sort through present or past concerns that may be affecting you and your family.

As a Marriage & Family Therapist/Counselor my goal is to provide families,
couples
and individuals with a safe environment where they can explore themselves and the possibility of change within their life and their relationships. Our lives are centered on relationships with others. Relationships are the building blocks of life; but, they can also be very debilitating. When those relationships become troubled, sometimes assistance from family and friends may not be enough to find balance within yourself or other relationships. Lucky for us, there are people who have dedicated their lives to helping others along their journey.

Open appointments in March.. Vulnerability: while rewarding, can be daunting. It isn’t easy to let someone into your internal landscape and I value the possibility of learning yours. My name is Sam and I work with clients to become intimately comfortable with the buried and beautifully impactful aspects of themselves. Often, the
relationship
to yourself contributes to how your days unfold in the world around you. When was the last time you heard or nurtured the parts of yourself that long for you? And, for those who have ever been labeled as too sensitive or too much, we can utilize and harness the power that your emotion may hold.

You and your
partner
both love one another and value this
relationship
, but lately you haven't been on the same page. You don't recognize the person next to you or it's harder to picture what the future holds for your
relationship
. Perhaps you've drifted apart and function more like roommates than lovers. Or maybe there's a sore wound that needs mending. If there's frequent bickering or arguments, you may be stuck on getting through to each other. When you put your all into repeated attempts at reconnection, it's excruciatingly painful if it doesn't work. You're ready to break the negative patterns and embrace a new future together.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
