I believe it is a difficult decision to reach out for support from another person. In so doing, therapy not only needs to be a gentle guidance towards a happier lifestyle, but it also needs to incorporate challenges. In working with individuals, couples and families, I enjoy creating a balance of both of these concepts. Shifting our perceptions and changing our behaviors is not a simple process for anyone. I work with parents, teenagers and even our littlest people during stressful life situations including depression, anxiety,
anger management
, marital issues, women's issues, and processing traumatic events.

I provide therapy to first responders, therapists and other adult professionals who feel a constant sense of letting themselves and others down. You’re not broken, it’s not a character flaw. You have your reasons for being. People respond to trauma, both past and current, in numerous ways: self-hatred, people-pleasing, sabotaging, avoiding,
anger
, shutting down, feeling detached.. to name a few. If any of this feels familiar, I can assume it’s been absolutely draining. Therapy provides insight into how to get out of the muck. You are the expert in your life, I want to be the one to collaboratively get you there.

This separation is often experienced through feelings of loneliness, shame, anxiety, depression,
anger
, low-self esteem and limiting beliefs.
Life can be difficult to navigate. Often we are indoctrinated by others beliefs and don't truly know who we are let alone how to live our lives. When energy gets stuck in the body and mind, whether it's from trauma, painful experiences or everyday stimuli in our lives, it causes patterns of unhealthy thoughts and behaviors.

However, since 2007, my scope and expertise have broadened to include individual mental health treatment, family therapy, couples therapy, trauma,
anger management
and substance abuse/ addiction treatment.
The relationship between client and clinician is a key component of treatment efficacy. I believe that this therapeutic relationship is founded in a spirit of collaboration, an emotional bond and an agreement on goals and tasks. Two main characteristics of therapy are critical to the building of this therapeutic alliance: expertise and compassion. I am confident in my ability to help resolve any issues in a satisfying manner, prepared in both theory and practice, clear in my thoughts, ideas, and logical in the problem solving process. Of equal importance, I am accepting, understanding and genuinely interested in you and your needs.

My specialties include trauma,
anger management
, depression, and anxiety.
In today's environment, there are so many pressures on individuals, kids, and parents that sometimes it seems overwhelming. Together we can find solutions to make coping with life's stressors easier and more effective. Therapy can help by having someone to talk with, process the stress, and generate solutions unique to the needs of individuals, children, and families. I believe we can work collaboratively to achieve a positive and supportive place where mental and emotional health can thrive.

You’re surrounded by people yet you are unsure whether you’re ok. Those around you seem to think so but you feel that at any moment the right trigger could burst you into tears. You feel shame,
anger
, frustration, and even hopelessness at times. These are all feelings we’ve felt at one time or another throughout our lives. They are all part of the human experience. However, many of us struggle to move on from these feelings and feel weighed down by our past experiences or our current circumstances. We can feel like we’ve lost control of our own lives.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
