I work with those who have experienced trauma, depression , anxiety, and anyone interested in becoming more mindful and self aware.
I know from my own experiences as well as a career dedicated to helping children, adults, and families, that often putting yourself first and asking for some help can bring up feelings of guilt, shame, and fear to name a few. Understanding and knowing that you are your own self with needs, wants and worth; that you deserve to heal, remember who you are and find more joy- these concepts are available to you. You matter, your story matters and I can offer a safe space for you to be your vulnerable and authentic self.

As both a clinical and community-trained social worker, I bring something unique to therapy: not only can I help you do the inner work to overcome the anxiety, depression , or overwhelm you feel … I can also connect you to the resources outside of the therapy room that can further support you on your journey to wellness.
I have over 20 years of experience working with people who are navigating life transitions. I know that when you’re in the middle of it, it can feel all-consuming. My job is to help you see the bigger picture: to rise above your current circumstances and see your life for all of its fullness and purpose. But I’m not just trained to help you. I can help because I’ve lived through some of the same things myself. I’ve been a caretaker, have overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges, and have experienced my own mid- and late-life transitions. I “get” it because I’ve lived it, too.

Some of the concerns I have addressed with clients include self-harm, history of trauma and abuse, marital and family conflict, depression and suicidal thought, addiction and anxiety.
There are days when the fear feels so big that there is no room in your chest for breath. Some mornings, it seems like sleeping forever would be much easier than getting out of bed. It may seem like a herculean task to get through the day, or you may simply know that life can be better than it is. You wonder if you are worthy of happiness. Perhaps you think that your friends and family are tired of listening to your struggles or that support groups have not provided the help you need. You may feel the need for additional insight or for significant support in dealing with personal demons.

Opening up to someone about issues that you are dealing with can be so scary and hard. Being vulnerable puts you at risk for exposing all those raw feelings and emotions, but it also gives you the potential to work on yourself, to get better, and to heal… Anxiety, depression , mood disorders, worry, fear, grief/loss, trauma, poor self-esteem, self-harm, substance use, school issues, work stress, family conflict, and everyday stressors can sometimes get the best of us. Opening up about these vulnerabilities can open so many new doors and help you get back to the person you used to be or to become the person you were meant to be.

"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts." Marcus Aurelius. I believe happiness is a choice, with that said, what is standing in the way of your happiness? Would it be relationship problems? Past trauma? Forgiveness? Finances? Stress from children? There could be endless reasons why happiness appears to be an unattainable goal or just an illusion. Let me help you work through what is preventing you from happiness, and begin experiencing a new way of life, a new you.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
