Stressed, overwhelmed, and restless minds are welcome here. Have you found yourself beginning to detach from life and relationships; unable to trust those around you, forgive those who hurt you or be your authentic self? Maybe you're tired of people telling you that you're "over analyzing things" or "being too hard on yourself", too sensitive or (gasp!) too spiritual! Meanwhile, you're constantly feeling unworthy inside: like a fraud, a failure, and falling short of the love, career, friends, and abundant life you desire. You've probably googled, "am I depressed" or "how not to be anxious". Traumatic encounters, issues in our
family
of origin, spiritual confusion and insecurity can leave you in an emotional tailspin.

family
relationships, trauma, grief and loss, academics and life transitions.
I am passionate and dedicated to supporting teens, adults, and families through life's challenges of school, work, relationships, and uncertainties. Healing past or current wounds of hurt, guilt and disappointment requires courage. Right now, it can be difficult to find a therapist that is a good fit, let alone one that is available for sessions. After 10 years of agency experience, working with kids through play therapy and other evidence-based methods, I am opening up my schedule to private practice clients. I believe quality one on one care and
family therapy
can greatly improve children's emotional and mental struggles as well as support the
family
unit.

My objective is to help you understand how contributing factors such as
family
dynamics, developmental influences and community resources shape your responses. Together we will identify manipulative, exploitative interactions and their underlying intentions, and learn to develop appropriate social skills. I will model and reinforce behaviors for getting needs met appropriately. We will identify how you are affected by the behavior of others, and how others are affected by your behavior.

I have been a therapist for 16 years, and I love what I do! I partner with clients to address anxiety, depression, relationship issues,
family
conflicts, life transitions, "getting unstuck," and trauma.
It is so easy to neglect our own emotional health and healing. We take care of everything and everyone else before we think to care for ourselves. If, like so many of us, you are forgetting to care for yourself or you are struggling to sustain your resilience during these difficult times, perhaps it is time to turn your attention to your own well-being. These past few years have added to life's difficulties and have increased feelings of depression, anxiety, loneliness, and uncertainty. I am here to help and I do so much more than the traditional talk therapy.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
