Children and adolescents sometimes struggle with anxiety, school stress, emotional challenges, or life changes that can feel overwhelming.
My approach integrates supportive counseling with creative forms of expression such as movement, reflective activities, music, and art to help youth explore and express emotions. These approaches support emotional awareness, build confidence, and help clients develop practical coping strategies for managing stress and everyday challenges.

I excel in working with teens and adults within the LGBTQ community who experience struggles with their gender/sexuality, domestic/interpersonal/intimate partner violence, trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, and difficult/abusive family dynamics.
I believe the single most important factor in a therapeutic relationship is just that, the relationship. A client will not be able to engage, become vulnerable, and see positive changes within their life if they do not build trust and rapport with their therapist.

*ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS* Life is full of challenges and setbacks and we sometimes need assistance. I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Many people see therapy as a one-sided conversation. I work with you to help you identify your desires and empower you to make those positive changes in your life. I recognize that making the choice to seek help can be difficult, so I use an approach that is compassionate, direct, and non-judgmental to help create an environment where you feel supported in your counseling journey.

I have extensive experience evaluating neurodivergent girls & women, people of color, & members of the LGBTQIA+ community, who are especially likely to have their neurodivergent traits dismissed or miscategorized, which has a significantly negative impact on children, adolescents, & adults.
I also offer individual, couples, and family psychotherapy focused on understanding, accepting, & supporting oneself & each other. My PSYPACT authorization allows me to conduct sessions with family members residing in different states, such as parents with adult children, who would otherwise be unable to participate in family therapy.

What if life could feel different? You’ve asked yourself that question so many times lately. Your mind feels overwhelming, racing between old wounds and the future you long for. You’ve tried everything: grounding skills, self-help tools, and advice, yet you’re still just getting through. Stress is loud, patience is thin, and healing feels exhausting. Still, you haven’t given up. You want relief, honest support, and space to simply exist. Peace may feel distant, but you’re nearer to change than you realize.

I feel a client deserves to be treated with dignity and respect regardless of what life challenges causes an individual to seek counseling. I am a compassionate and patient person which has caused my clients to feel very comfortable with me as a Clinician. I believe a person can benefit from guidance in all areas which is why I seek to treat the "whole person": body, mind and spirit.I attempt to bring a person to a place of healing from their struggles by allowing the client to have an input in the therapeutic process.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
