I have experience helping people with a wide array of challenges, such as depression , anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, substance abuse, mood disorders, self esteem issues, emotional eating and chronic illness.
Sometimes in life we struggle and feel overwhelmed by our problems or circumstances. During these times, it is beneficial to sit with a compassionate and objective therapist to help identify potential solutions that lead to change, improvement, and growth. Often, people have erroneous thought patterns or long held mistaken beliefs about themselves, which prevent them from achieving the life they want. My approach is to create a sensitive and nonjudgmental environment to assist you in properly identifying the root cause of the problem or to provide the coping skills that make the situation less overwhelming and more tolerable.

Additional areas of expertise: Anxiety disorders, eating disorders, OCD, emotional impact of acute or chronic health issues, academic concerns/pressure of students, faculty or staff; depression , stress, grief and loss.
People are sometimes challenged by turbulent emotions, unexpected transitions, losses or chronic mood issues. The day to day experience of emotional distress or the underlying sense of uneasiness that can affect vitality are difficult to endure over time. Verbal dialogue within a relationship designed for you to freely express yourself, explore feelings and have assistance making connections that are liberating define the essence of psychotherapy. I have seen many individuals over the years not only have symptom relief but find new paths and shed difficult patterns of emotions, thoughts and behavior. Psychotherapy is ultimately empowering for people and healing.

When faced with difficult challenges our emotional, physical, and mental health is impacted. The impacts of life transitions, past traumas, and stress can show up in our lives as anger, depression , anxiety, behavioral concerns, and relationship issues. Therapy can be helpful to individuals by allowing space to learn to identify emotions as well as learn tools to manage symptoms. If you're struggling to manage unhelpful thoughts or behaviors centering around anxiety, body image, depression , life changes, self-esteem, self-harm, and stress management I would urge you to consider therapy.

I have focus in the areas of anxiety, depression , life transitions (and adjustments), trauma such as sexual abuse, grief and loss, and low self-esteem.
While navigating through life we are often presented with struggles and challenges that may be difficult to resolve on our own and require guidance and support from someone to successfully push through these challenges with positive outcomes. As a therapist, this is where I come in; I intend to provide individuals (families and couples) a safe haven to explore and work through any area(s) of your life in which you desire to change and/or improve. It is of great importance to me that the client/therapist relationship is established upon openness, candid, with active communication on behalf of both, the client and the therapist.

Hi there! I can’t wait to hear from you! Have you been feeling anxious, stressed, worried, or depressed about your life and what’s happening around you? Feeling stuck or that you don’t have control, unsure, or that you are just going through the motions at times. Think to yourself... When was the last time you celebrated a small or big win just because. Or the last time you sat down and said out loud “I’m REALLY proud of myself?” Well, I’m proud of you for putting you first as you begin your therapy journey. Remember you are stronger than you know, don’t be so hard on yourself! Reaching out is a sign of strength.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
