Passionate about catering the best support to each individual, I am dedicated to staying at the forefront of education and training in this constantly developing field. My career started in Early Childhood Education, where my passion for working with young children and their families directed me to grow expertise into additional areas by pursuing and excelling in the Oakland University Counseling Master's program. As a Counselor for the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, I was an acting subject matter expert for substance abuse, impulse control, depressive and suicidal ideation, and schizoaffective disorders.

Life transitions are stressful. Take time to pause, process, and grow. I have a particular interest in supporting new and growing families facing postpartum depression and anxiety. Growing your family has its ups and downs. I'm here to support you as you think about having a baby, as you progress through your pregnancy, or as you enter into parenthood. Maybe you are grieving a loss, struggling to cope with body or relationship changes, feeling anxious or depressed, or any of the other things that life throws your way. You are not alone.

As a private practitioner, my clients range in age from 17-65 and bring to counseling a diverse set of issues ranging from human sexuality, abuse, drug use, mood disorders (e.g. Anxiety & Depression), serious mental illness and family, parenting and marriage issues. My process involves getting to know my clients and building trust as we work together to determine how the counseling process can best serve them. Once trust is cultivated and the issues are unveiled, we're able to move forward with a Person Centered focus that intersects psychology and a biblical worldview.

Maybe you've been diagnosed with a long term illness or have had symptoms for years and at times you don’t recognize yourself anymore. You know these health struggles are somehow behind your depressed and anxious feelings, and you feel alone…like no one understands. Right now, you may have more questions than answers, but one thing you know for sure is that you’d do anything to get your life back. You grieve for the person you used to be and find it hard to imagine yourself living a worthwhile life with this illness trying to drag you down every chance it gets. (Due to demand, I ONLY accept clients with chronic illness concerns)

Although my clients are from all walks of life and situations, I work best when working with someone who identifies as LGBTQIA2S+, non-monogamous, on the kink/BDSM spectrum, and any overlapping identities thereof. My clients are either navigating change in their life (loss of a loved one, changing relationships, etc) or seeking to enact change in their life (reduction of mental health symptoms, building routine, etc). Along the way, they find their way to self-acceptance, self-compassion, and confidence. My clients want to build a collaborative partnership and want to build that partnership via telehealth.

Mind over matter. I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity. I think the main reason we develop mental health issues is because they are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way. Which means that I think you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. I believe that even though we can't start over we can start from where we are and change our circumstances.

Men don’t ask for directions. They drive around in circles. Emotions get heated and sometimes you never actually reach your destination. Shame and stubbornness can hold you back, but don’t let it. At River Oaks Psychology, we've got male therapists who specialize in helping men (of all ages) who are tired of cycling around problems. At first, guys don’t want to admit therapy is helpful (ideas about masculinity get in the way) but then benefit immensely from talking to us. People say we're laid-back and easy to talk to. We don’t make assumptions and we’d never judge anyone. We can help you confront whatever you’re facing.
