I help highly-sensitive women learn how to self-heal trauma & navigate their life-path, through embodiment. Are you a deep feeler + thinker? Recovering perfectionist ...people-pleaser ...performer? Always both "too much" + "not enough"? Did you experience a lot of emotional neglect as a child? Struggle in relationship to self + others over the years? Still somewhat stuck & confused ...frustrated ...exhausted by "old stuff"? Going through (another) dark night of the soul? Together, we will unwind old survival patterns and co-create new ways forward. If you're looking for a fresh body-mind-spirit approach, let's connect.

I'm currently accepting new clients for virtual or in-person care. I provide individual therapy for women and gender non-binary clients. My clients struggle with body image, relationship problems, or oftentimes a general sense of not feeling "good enough." Sometimes this shows up as anxiety in a romantic partnership, at work, or in the way they view their bodies.

We will all experience times in our lives when we really need someone that we can talk to, someone who will really listen, someone we can trust. Therapy is a powerful, evidence-based tool that has been proven to meet those needs. Though there is often a stigma attached to seeking support for mental health concerns, in reality, our mental health is an integral part of our overall health and wellness and, in my opinion, should be treated with the same importance as seeing a physician or a dentist. Though people seek therapy for a variety of reasons, the common theme is their hope to live happier, healthier, and more productive lives.

Wellness = the state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal. My ideal client is one that energizes my passion for integrative health. Many of those I have worked with have complex issues that are open to exploring the many layers of treatment that include assessing the mind, body and soul. I firmly believe that you can not get to your best personal level of healthy living without practicing an intersection of practices. Using a body-based and holistic approach, I see myself as a companion on the journey with individuals to building stronger self-awareness, personal growth and wellness.

Life is filled with peaks and valleys; sometimes we reach a point in life when we need to make a change. When we need more than the comfort from family or friends. When life presents challenges or opportunities we may need a fresh perspective and a nudge in the right direction to get where we want to go.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
