Somatic Therapists in Detroit, MI
My approach is integrative, blending relational therapy with meditation, journaling, somatic awareness, and creative expression.
Throughout my work as a therapist, I’ve supported individuals navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, depression, and the deeper patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves and others. Many of my clients come in feeling disconnected from their needs, desires, voice, or sense of self; and are ready to explore what it means to come back home to themselves.

Mental health is a personal right, a civil right, and a vital part of overall health. Just as we care for the body, we must care for the mind. Emotional well-being affects how we work, connect, heal, and thrive every day. I believe supporting mental wellness means creating safe spaces where people feel heard, valued, and empowered to seek help when needed. It also means advocating for equal access to mental health resources and recognizing that emotional well-being affects every part of a person’s life — from relationships and work to physical health. Mental health is part of human well-being and human rights.

Life can feel overwhelming. Stressful events—big or small—can build up and start showing up as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, anger, or even trauma symptoms. If you’ve been feeling like your worries or past experiences are shaping how you think, feel, and act, you don’t have to go through this on your own.
Whether you’re struggling with daily stress, healing from past trauma, or just feeling stuck, therapy can help you feel more grounded and hopeful. My goal is for you to walk away with new tools to manage difficult thoughts and emotions, as well as a deeper sense of control over your life!

Using EMDR and a somatic approach, I integrate body and mind to foster healing on multiple levels.
It’s been a while since you’ve felt like yourself. You are showing up every day, doing what needs to be done, but deep down, you feel disconnected. You feel ready for support in creating a life that feels more aligned with who you are. I work with teens and adults facing ADHD, anxiety, and trauma, with a special focus on health at every size & fat liberation, queer identity exploration, racial identity, & neurodiversity.

Healing begins with being understood in the fullness of who we are. I work with folks navigating anxiety, the inner critic, trauma, identity exploration, neurodivergence, and the complexities of living at the intersections of multiple marginalized experiences. I offer a space where you can be affirmed, understood within a cultural social and historical context, and supported in reconnecting with your authentic self. Therapy should be a place that centers your voice, honors your lived experience, and supports you in defining healing on your own terms.

I'm here to help the overthinkers. The people who feel like they're a prisoner to their own mind, which hardly ever slows down. The people who feel like being smart and talented can make you feel frozen...There are so many thoughts and running in your head that it's hard to act. How do you know the right things to do and the right moves to make when there's so much going on? And when you do know, how do you actually execute? How do you get it out of your head and make it happen in real life? If you can relate, contact me now.

You're the one others rely on. Driven. Capable. Always pushing for more. On paper, your life may look impressive—but internally, you're overwhelmed, anxious, and constantly battling the voice that says “not enough.”
Perfectionism, burnout, people-pleasing—it’s exhausting. You might feel disconnected from yourself, stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, and unsure how to slow down without falling apart. Maybe you've tried therapy before—maybe it helped, but didn't quite get to the root of it.
That’s where I come in.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
