The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are -Joseph Campbell. Together, we can really hone in on what it is you are wanting for yourself and finding a path forward, that best suites you. Often, the work is getting back in touch with your Self in a deeper way—like re-calibrating your inner compass. My understanding of counseling comes from holistic, somatic and trauma-informed approaches that incorporate mind, body, and soul such as Jungian, IFS and transpersonal. Sex therapy is also a very important part of the work I do. Check out my website blog to learn more details about how I work

I have had the honor of belonging too and working with a wide range of populations and ages, providing a depth of knowledge in adoption, LGBTQ issues/exploration, domestic violence, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, sexual assault, PTSD, kink affirming care, and sex work.
As a queer, nonbinary, black, goofy, human in a bigger body, I know the impact a safe space can have. Especially in a time where being “different” corresponds with exclusion and erasure. This is where therapy can be effective in unraveling the chaos and provide a respite for you to catch your breath, find your voice, and feel affirmed to stand in your power. Though uncertainty and change can be challenging, and vulnerability feel scary in this circumstance; I am here to walk alongside you and provide a space to create intentional, effective, and long-lasting change

I view our work through a lens of identity, community, trauma-responsiveness, relationship, and sexual multiculturalism. This means I consider how our various social identities, mental health, and behaviors exist within multiple levels of self and are impacted by the communities we are a part of.

My time in undergrad has helped me become well-versed in the ways of setting boundaries, kink exploration, communication, and identity navigation. As well as learning the importance of intersectionality and cultural competency within therapy.

Quilted Rose was created out of a deep ancestral drive to work in partnership with Black and Indigenous people as we navigate everyday challenges (grief and loss, anxiety, political burnout), collective trauma and targeted marginalization.
I respect the individual as part of the collective community. I believe that healing or ‘mental health treatment’ cannot occur alone. Black and Indigenous people heal in community. Working with me may include activities to help you understand where emotions are stored in your body and how to release or expand those emotions...

Sex-Positive, Kink Allied Therapists
Why might an individual want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
A sex-positive or kinky individual may want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist because the client may feel safer and more supported discussing their experiences and challenges. A therapist who identifies as kink-friendly will have experience with clients having diverse sexual preferences and will likely be nonjudgmental and supportive about issues brought to the table. It is important to note that sex-positive, kink-allied individuals may find equal success with therapists who do not have such specialized knowledge and background. The most important factor in the success of therapy is for the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond.
Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in sex-positive, kink-allied treatment?
Generally, no. There are limited training programs and unofficial accreditations that therapists can pursue, but a therapist’s expertise will ultimately come from their previous experience with similar clients, their engagement with organizations that promote sex positivity or kink-allied lifestyles, and the importance they place on safety and cultural sensitivity.
How can individuals recognize a good sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
An experienced therapist is able to help clients explore their sexual identity and expression and relieve any discomfort or stigma attached to discussing such matters and the client’s overall challenges. A therapist who is sex-positive and kink-allied is able to create an environment that honors a client’s experience and sexual preferences. To recognize a good therapist, clients can simply ask directly about topics and issues important to them and gauge their comfort level and connection with a clinician based on the responses.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist with a focus on sex positivity and alternative sexual lifestyles?
Some individuals may feel most comfortable knowing that the clinician they’re working with has a commitment to creating an atmosphere of sex positivity and has experience with relationship diversity and alternative relationship structures. Working with a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist may help clients respect their own challenges and improve identity-affirming treatment.
