If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or carrying more than you show on the outside, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to sort through it by yourself. Many clients come to therapy struggling with anxiety, relationship concerns, or difficulty setting boundaries, and often say, “I don’t even know why I’m this overwhelmed — I just know I can’t keep feeling this way.”

With a passion for guiding clients in using effective communication, I assist couples to reconnect, repair, and reset their relationships, using Gottman techniques. With teen girls and women, self-esteem is raised and self-efficacy discovered. (Trauma-informed care is present). Using a Solution-Focused approach to identify strengths, develop coping strategies, set meaningful goals, create boundaries, explore fresh perspectives, while focused on lasting, positive changes, my clients are supported. Emotional validation, encouragement, and fresh perspectives are worked on in a safe, inclusive and nonjudgmental space.

I specialize in sex and internet pornography addiction. I work one-on-one with indivuals, couples, families, and those attracted to minors. My primary treatment goal is to help the sexually addicted individual overcome the addiction and find inner healing. Additionally, I work to promote healing within badly damaged intimate relationships. Initially, I aim to help clients gain immediate relief from the feelings of overwhelm and distress that brought them to counseling to begin with. Subsequently, I collaborate with clients to diagnose and heal the deeper sources and causes of their suffering and addiction.

Hi, I hope your browsing or search for a therapist is going well. I know it can be a lot of pressure to find and choose a therapist based on a picture and bio on a website. If you feel like we would be a good match I would be excited to work with you and if not, I wish you wellness. I am an LCSW and have been practicing therapy for 5 years. I am currently seeking my Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies in the Couple and Family Therapy track.

Every person is made up of their own unique experiences and backgrounds, and I believe the therapy process should reflect that. Together, we’ll create a space where “you” are central. We all possess the wisdom needed to make meaningful changes in our lives. However, anxiety, stress, depression, and other struggles can interfere with this ability. As a psychologist, I strive to create a supportive environment where individuals feel comfortable making sense of their emotions, experiences, internal signals, and body’s cues, so they are better able to make decisions and changes that feel right.

Are you carrying more than others can see? Maybe you are trying to keep everything going while old hurts, exhaustion, or quiet self-doubt begin to surface again. You want to feel present and connected in your life, yet sometimes the weight you carry feels heavy and lonely. Healing from trauma is possible, even in the middle of everyday life. You do not have to walk through it alone. Together, we can move slowly and gently, at a pace that feels safe, with care rooted in compassion, trust, and connection. You deserve support and a space where you can soften, feel understood, and reconnect with yourself.

It's normal to have problems. It's normal for relationships to have conflict. It's normal to feel nervous on occasion. It's normal to fall into a low mood now and then. But sometimes these normal things get out of hand. And sometimes you have to live through something that isn't normal, something unexpected. In times like that, it's useful to have somebody to talk to.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Therapists
Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work together effectively, but, especially for those whose concerns relate to their religion or cultural background, a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond, even if they do not have an extensive history with or understanding of their client’s background before therapy begins.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Church of Christ/Latter Day Saints values?
Each individual brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of therapeutic modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition such as LDS that strongly influences the conduct of everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process.

Why might someone feel comfortable with an LDS-attuned therapist?
While qualifications and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic effectiveness. It is wise to find a therapist who is responsive to your questions and concerns and with whom you feel you can establish a rapport. A therapist who is sensitive to LDS values and beliefs and the role they play in the lives of Church members can offer Mormon clients a welcome sense of safety, assurance that their community and culture will be understood, and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, all of which support the therapeutic process.

How do I recognize a good LDS therapist?
LDS therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Mormon principles and values. They have an understanding of the culture and the important role the Church plays in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of emotional difficulties those raised in the faith can be prone to. Like all effective therapists, a good LDS therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of everyday life.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Mormon/LDS therapists?
The directory of LDS therapists includes therapists who have shared their cultural background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information; these individuals would not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with LDS clients and/or communities, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
