Overall, I consider myself a "worldly nurturer". "Worldly", because I have worked with people from all backgrounds, cultures, ages, and walks of life to "nurture" their potential. All of my experiences have taught me the foundational skills that I use in my profession today, which are: patience, the ability to listen, the understanding that listening is as paramount as speaking, the capabilities to be resourceful, valuing modesty and humility whilst still being confident and capable, and having faith in my skill-set while still being open to professionally growing and developing.

My hope as a therapist is to work with the client to cultivate a safe and courageous space to begin to explore from a holistic lens. We each come into this work through a unique context of intersecting identities and experiences that deserve to be honored. My work is trauma informed and I understand trauma as something that can be experienced interpersonally, generationally, and systemically.

My counseling philosophy is difficult doesn't mean impossible. I believe counseling involves helping you move from your current state towards what you are capable of becoming. This can be accomplished through a counseling relationship that (1) is genuine and real (2) enables you to experience acceptance and care, and (3) helps you to feel understood.

I provide psychoanalytic and relational/intersubjective psychotherapy for adults and adolescents. This approach allows you to express internal thoughts and feelings and worries you have, and it can begin to help you understand them in a deeper way. Many people suffer from negative thinking and get stuck in that state of mind, feeling that is the reality. It is only a partial state of mind, it holds us back from being more productive and enjoying life. I have once a week and up to five times a week psychotherapy available.

I would offer my ideal client tools in which to affirm their own greatness. I often meet with people who have had issues from their past and anxious about their future.......One of my specialties is to help an individual to become grounded (centered) into the present moment. I understand that the client wants the pain, anxiety and frustration to end right now....However, I can show a client how to take the energy of a situation and use it to be transformed by the renewing of their thoughts of their mind

Are you worried or stressed out? Does it seem like you can't get your feet under you? Do you have trouble getting over a traumatic event? Have you tried to solve your problems on your own and then realized that you need help? If you said "yes" to any of these questions, then coming here was the right choice. I know it can be hard to ask for help. You've probably been thinking about getting help for months, if not years. I'm so glad you finally took the brave step to do so.

We all need a little help sometimes. Therapy is a great tool to have to overcome life’s tough times. Are you new to therapy? Or someone who has seen a therapist before? Regardless of your previous experiences with therapy, I offer everyone a safe, private and professional experience. Together we will address your concerns and then plan and execute change. As far back as I can remember, I have always been concerned with other people’s happiness. As a child I knew that one day I would have a career in a “helping profession”. My approach to therapy is a holistic one.

How can I find a therapist in Detroit?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
