I practice CBT, DBT, and person centered therapy from a trauma-focused and multicultural approach.
You want to be confident, but deep down you are struggling to feel good about yourself or your future. You’re over feeling anxious, the constant flood of stress, or being confused about who you are or where you’re going with your life. All you know is that you’re ready for things to be different. You’re ready to do the work. You’re ready to get a plan together for the future. But most of all, you’re ready to feel confident in yourself and your decisions.

I have expertise in the delivery of the following evidence-based treatments: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Behavioral Activation for Depression, Prolonged Exposure, Exposure Therapy and Response Prevention, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Emotion Regulation Group Therapy, and Mindfulness-based Therapy.
I believe that long-lasting and meaningful change is most likely to occur in the context of validation and acceptance. I approach my clients with openness, compassion, and curiosity. This stance ensures that any treatment plan we develop is comprehensive, culturally-sensitive, personalized, and effectively considers the unique experiences and situations that contribute to the challenges you face. Moreover, although it is important that you experience relief from your symptoms, it is even more important that this relief is in service of helping you build the meaningful and fulfilling life you want to live.

I offer a compassionate, strengths-based approach, including therapies like EMDR, DBT, CBT, and Trauma-Focused CBT.
You're stuck in an endless loop of anxious thoughts—spinning, repeating, never quiet. You tell yourself they aren’t true, but no matter how hard you try, they won’t stop. It’s exhausting. You feel powerless like life is happening around you while you're stuck on the sidelines watching. You’ve been through hard times before, and you’ve made it through. So why does it feel so difficult now, when others seem to manage just fine? You’re not weak. You’re not broken. You don’t have to do this alone; together, we’ll find the way forward.

My approach to therapy is based on EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.
You're done with people treating you poorly simply because of who you are. You’re tired of these issues lingering. There’s been a few events over the years and it’s all built up. You're fed up with the anger, the substance use, the bad relationships, or the issues at work. You’re ready to stop the negative thinking and get better control of your emotions . You're ready to get a game plan together and gain some perspective on things. But most of all, you’re ready to better understand yourself and make better choices.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
