You want to feel good about yourself but you don’t. You feel different, like other people don’t understand you, and you just want to be normal. You have so much shame about the things you’ve done or been through that it seems impossible that you’d ever love yourself. On top of that, you’re constantly anxious or depressed about something (or nothing!) and your symptoms leave you feeling like something is seriously wrong with you. All you want is to feel better about yourself and to feel happier and more at peace with your life. You want to be able to be your true self in your relationships and to feel loved and accepted for it.

My passion is supporting BIPOC individuals who struggle managing anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, identity, parenting, confidence, & interpersonal or familiar relationships.
I do not believe therapy can or should be apolitical, sterile, or overly formal. We get raw and honest, we swear and we cry. We learn and we unlearn. Ultimately I want my clients to develop positive skills & strategies to navigate life's challenges, thus my focus will go beyond talk therapy to help you leave each session with actionable steps to implement.

Life is hard, and everyone needs support at one time or another. If you're experiencing anxiety, depression, tough relationships, or difficult transitions, you're not alone. You might lack confidence in your recent life choices. You might feel as if you don't have many options right now. You might feel stuck in a never-ending cycle of the "same old". Again, I say... you're not alone.

I specialize in adult Autism and ADHD testing as well as for adolescents and children, whether you are wondering about specific neurodivergence (i.e., ADHD, ASD, learning disorders), memory problems, behavioral issues, and/or specific mental health concerns.
In addition to neuropsychological testing, I also provide individual therapy for adults. As a therapist, I adopt a collaborative, person-centered approach to therapy (with a little bit of humor mixed in). It is this perspective that makes me a great fit for clients who are looking for a space to be their most authentic and vulnerable selves.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
