(up to age 25) with a variety of mental health diagnosis.
I believe a child's mental health is just as important as their physical health. I offer individual and family psychotherapy for children, teens and adults. I strongly encourage guardians to be involved in the therapy process. I believe in a collaborative approach between myself, the child, and guardian will ultimately achieve the best therapeutic success and progress. I work within the family dynamic to make long lasting changes that will improve the overall family system. Currently taking new patients for virtual sessions.

I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. As a
woman
, you may be often seen as "Super
Woman
", where you can do it all and be it all, while putting others and their needs before your own. But the truth is, you are human. You may be feeling overwhelmed, depressed, or anxious or maybe you are struggling with finding balance in your life.

The best things in life aren’t things. In fact, I’d argue it’s having peace of mind; it’s having the courage to take the first step toward change, making decisions with autonomy, and living life from a place of intention and confidence rather than fear and obligation. With the amount of barriers we all face, it’s essential to find someone that will support you in finding that strength within yourself and gently push you to set your limits outside of your comfort zone. If you agree, you might appreciate working with someone who has been in your shoes.

I began my practice in 1984 as a Social Worker. I returned to school and earned a Ph.D in Psychology. I specialize in working with adults of all ages, children, adolescence, couples and families. I employ a variety of techniques such as mindfulness, insight oriented inquiry, Yoga and traditional talk therapies. I do believe that we can change our lives if we change our thinking. At times we come to a place when our thoughts become unbearable and feel overwhelmed and confused. When we are open to acknowledging our suffering we then become willing to explore our pain.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
