Before opening Brighter Tomorrow Wellness Center, I worked collaboratively with a neurodevelopment assessment team to complete Trauma Assessments for youth involved in the Child Welfare System.
I work with individuals, couples, and families. In session, I take a Person Centered approach to develop a treatment plan that best outlines the progress the individual, couple or family wants to make in therapy. By utilizing a Brief Solution Focused Therapy approach, this model can assist in accomplishing therapy goals in a short time frame. Additionally, I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have extensive experience in assessing and working with children who have experienced trauma . My graduate and doctoral coursework has also trained me in multiple other therapeutic models.

I work with individuals, couples, children and families struggling with anxiety, grief and loss, depression, trauma , low self-esteem, and life transitions to find new insights for coping with the challenges they are facing.
Deciding to seek therapy can seem overwhelming and yet could be the most important decision you make for yourself and your loved ones. Facing our fears and recognizing we need help facing life’s challenges is the first step in healing our wounded self or our dysfunctional family interactions. I see this desire to change or get to the root of our difficulties as a sign of mental health, not as weakness or “being broken.” I believe that everyone is doing the best that they can with the tools they have and change happens when we realize our ways of being in the world are no longer working for us.

While able treat a wide range of issues, I specialize in anxiety, depression, and trauma .
My ideal client is someone who is looking to grow, develop his or her identity, and learn to set and maintain healthy boundaries. I enjoy working with people who are uncomfortable with the idea of therapy or have had negative experiences with it in the past as my style is very relaxed and patient. I enjoy using humor and feel that everyone can benefit from having someone truly listen, not judge, and help without telling you what you "should" do. I love helping people find balance and explore meaning and purpose in life. There is no one size fits all approach, we will form a plan that works for and with you.

I have received training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), which is an acknowledged treatment for trauma .
For many of us, problems with concentration, low energy or motivation, and conflict with those close to us make each day a challenge, resulting in unhealthy coping methods. Anxiety and depression are oftentimes the cause for these difficulties. I help clients using a cognitive behavioral approach to treat those issues and others such as guilt, self-esteem, trauma , anger, addiction, GLBT issues, and family/behavior problems. I rely on a solution-focused, collaborative approach. My practice is geared toward children ages 8 & up, adolescents, and adults. Call for an appointment today so we may begin helping you achieve your goals.

Life can change in a flash. Transitions are not always expected. Job loss, chronic illness, death of a loved one, a pandemic - not to mention those we do plan, such as moving, empty nest, retirement, and others. We often try to avoid transitions because change can be hard. Even a positive change can cause a feeling loss, anxiety, easily overwhelming, and often leads to depression. The good news is those suffering from an emotional instability, a trauma & loss, or other mental health illnesses can learn new tools and skills to maneuver their way to a new calm and peace.

I have experience working in different settings and with different populations, problems, and symptoms including; child/adult anxiety, depression, trauma , marital issues, family conflict, bipolar disorder, BPD, and substance abuse.
I believe big change happens as a result of taking small steps, and by making small needed changes. This allows a person to become "unstuck" from old beliefs, patterns, behaviors, and ways if thinking which are harmful to self and others. I use a primarily solution-focused approach and a systemic lens while working with my clients. I believe life is constantly moving and changing and that it is important, on a journey towards growth and healing, that a person feel supported and equipped to handle life's challenges. Whatever the problem, desire, or goal, I will work to help move you forward in a positive and meaningful direction.

My work focuses on stress, anxiety, depression, anger, relationship problems, self-esteem, PTSD , and many others.
NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. For the past 18 years, I've had the privilege of helping people of all ages through life challenges and heal from difficult experiences. Clients experience long-term change, due to interventions that are healing, supportive, and empowering. Trust and safety are established in an environment where people can feel understood, respected, and never judged, which is the most important thing to me to provide, as a therapist. Asking for help can be difficult and takes courage. I admire anyone willing to explore therapy as an opportunity for growth and healing.

I am very proud of my EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) certification because it reflects my dedication to helping those with trauma to heal.
If you find yourself shocked, puzzled and bewildered by a close relationship, I'm here to help weed through the fog and help you gain more clarity. Relationships can be confusing and painful when conflicts are not worked out in a way that is mutually satisfying. If you find that what you've experienced or are currently experiencing is beyond the average differences in personality and opinion, a new perspective can provide a fresh way forward. Small changes in how You see things and chose to respond can make a big change in the relationship.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
